Volvo S60 R Brakes

Hello all.

I know some other SHO owners like to go with SVT Cobra rotor/calipers or atleast calipers on their cars.

The problem with this is that requires re-drilling the lug bolt pattern from 5 * 4 1/2 to 5 * 4 1/4.

I was curious if anyone had any information on possibly using Volvo S60 R Brembo's as they are 13" Rotors with 4 Piston Brembo calipers. And they are allready 5 * 4 1/4 bolt pattern. Would I need a custom caliper bracket, could I use one made for a SVT Cobra caliper? Any information would be appreciated

You most definitely cannot use the caliper bracket from the SVT Cobra. That is made for a floating caliper design. You are trying to mount a fixed calipers. The bracket needed will depend on whether or not the caliper is a radial mount or not.

It could probably be done with the correct bracket and wheel clearance/offset.

To be honest, it's much easier to redrill a rotor than fab up a caliper bracket.

What about Cobra spindles and changing to 5 x 4 1/2 bolt pattern?

I'm just getting some other ideas besides the Cobra rotor/caliper combo, which i will probably end up doing. But if i can use cobra spindles and change my bolt pattern that will give me so many more rim options...

I don't think you can swap spindles as the Mustang is RWD and does not have the splines for the axles.

I don't know why your so worried about the bolt pattern. Rotors are easily drilled and you can order wheels with custom bolt patterns a lot of the time.

You can actually get the Cobra brake in 14" rotors. You'd have to buy the Eradispeed "Plus 1" setup that comes with a 2-piece rotor and a bracket to move the caliper out... Plus some 18" wheels.

My rotors came off of a '99 Cobra. The calipers are PBR versions of the same. The mounts bolted right up. The rotors I simple ran a bit two sizes over through the holes and they slipped right over the SHO bolt Pattern. I will try to post a picture after I get home. I just put new pads on last night and took a shot. I am so impressed with these there is no way I would go back. The only issue I had was the stock lines are a little tight and it required filling a little off the mounting block on the line so the banjo fitting would pull it down flat. I understand that others have gotten lines a couple of inches longer to compensate. Another mounting issue is that the calipers on a Mustang mount to the rear of axle and the Taurus mounts to the front so you must swap the sides so the bleeder remains pointed straight up but the mounting brackets do not switch sides or when you are applying you will notice an annoying clicking noise caused be the "locking-pin" taking all the stopping force between the pads and the bracket which I am sure over time would not be very good for keeping the caliper in place and fuctional. One last thing, going to the 13" rotors did require me to go with a 17" wheel but since my original Chromies were starting to bubble and flake I wasn't really heartbroken.

Cobra Rotors and PBR calipers
