Volve S70 & Thunderbird SC wheels on SHO (Pic)

I have always liked the Volvo S70 T5 five spoke "slicer" looking wheel and thought it would look right at home on an SHO. The wheels have the same fitting requirements according to Tirerack's info. 5-108 with 40 mm backspacing. I thought the S70 wheels would look nice, but I prefer stock slicers. I came across the black Thunderbird SC Anniversary edition on tire rack. So I figured I would cut and paste them onto the SHO too. I'm quite impressed with the way the T-Bird wheels look. These wheels would fit too. Have a look for yourself. What do you think? How do you create a poll?

11.6" brakes became standard on SLOs in 2001.

I don't think Thunderbirds ever came with 17's from the factory. I'm pretty sure 15s came on the base model Tbirds, and 16s were optional. My roommate's Super Coupe has 16s.

All of these cars share out bolt pattern.

Wow.. somebody quoted me. I feel so honored.

My roommate's SC is a 35th Anni, and he had the stock SC wheels on his Currant Red '89 SHO for a bit when he put some Cobra R replica on the SC. The SC wheels looked pretty good on the car...

Jarrod:

I like the Volvo S70 and Acura TL wheels. I like the look of stock wheels and often pondered, "I wonder if those would fit on my SHO." I was elated when I came across the list of cars that share our bolt pattern. It's great info, so I wanted to share.

TopGunnYFZ:
I agree, orginal slicers look best. When you see slicers you know its a SHO. When I see a SHO without slicers it looks like a SLO.

I have T-bird wheels on my '90. They don't look bad at all. The ones I have are from 96-97 T-Bird Sport. They are 16x7 and are the same as 94-95 T-Bird SC wheels except that they have an open lugnut center cap with chrome lugnuts (kinda like 3rd gen wheels).

oh! oh! just for fun, let's see what a set of "snowflake" wheels from an 87-88 thunderbird turbocoupe would look on a first gen sho.

Those year T-Bird and SHOs images are not available on Tire Rack. Sounds like a good idea but the Fox Turbo Coupe had a four lug set up, same as the Fox Mustang; 4x108.

The '93 to ''95 Supercoupe wheels (non-chrome) are some the lightest factory wheels I have measured. Around 16.5 lbs for a 16 x 7 factory is not bad. The "swirl spoke" Mark 8 wheels were over 20 lbs, around 22 with chrome. zak
