Here are the StreetFire.net links to a few in-car videos that I recently uploaded from the Texas Ford club's outing at the Texas World Speedway on May 19-20, 2007. My 342,000 mile SHO and I had a great time drifting around the fast corners at that track. The only casualties were several thousand miles of treadwear from the Bridgestone S-03s, wear on the PFCM brake pads and about a tank and a half of premium unleaded at a rate of 10.1 mpg.

How are do you like those S-03's Scott?

The S-03s have been as good or better for dry traction compared to the previous set of Goodyear F1 GS-D3s, but significantly limited in wet traction. Where they really shone was on the track where their low slip angles and controllable drift once the limit had been reached (for street tires) allowed for very fun high speed corners.

The dry braking has been very good, but again, the wet performance shows lower limits that the excellent F1 GS-D3s. The tires sacrificed their tread like low-wear competition rubber on the track. Wear was rapid and significant. At the track, all of the tread blocks had rounded edges and scuffing like the comp tires. They were picking up rocks like them too.

On the down side, I have had a very difficult time keeping them balanced. They are not gentle for the 100-mile (round trip) daily commute. The F1s, with their softer sidewalls, sacrificed transient quickness for a superior ride and lower noise. Since the S-03s have been discontinued, I look forward to the next generation of high performance tires for their replacements.
