Back in Michigan ... again.
Anyone who doubts a 14.7 run in a healthy, well-driven MTX should go back to driving their tin-can Honda.

Sam, your times and speeds are almost IDENTICAL to my 14.7 run I did with my 89 a few years ago. Trapping 75 in the 1/8 for what amounts to a minor-bolt on car is outstanding :salute:

Thank you very much! To be honest with you I'm more happy with the 9.5@75 1/8th then the 14.7 Quarter mile time.

Indeed. I'm going back this friday and more then anything I'm just going for consistancy. If I can run 14.8-14.9 consistantly then I'll be happy.

I'm sure I could of, But I'm stupid enough racing my car with a busted rear mount and bad strut mounts. Imagin if I had that Zex kit on? My car as good as it runs is not ready for it. I'm glad your enjoying it along with the DK/BK crown.

The more I think about the more I know this thing can get down to a 14.5 almost as is. What amazes me is how a 2.5 60' compared to a 2.2 60' can have an effect of almost 1 second on the ET. By next track season I don't expect to have anymore done to the car except finially throwing on my PNP/BBB intake and putting in my Quaifed Transmission (Wich won't help any as far as traction goes). However, I'm going to need to get my hands on some springs blocks for the rear. I am also probably going to get a set of wheels for the front (Minimum 16X7) to throw on a set of sticky tires with slightly larger side walls (I don't quite want to run a DR yet).

Hopefully in the spring of next year a 14.5 (With around the same trap speed) will be possible with only minor upgrades.

A 14.7 means your car is strong, well maintained and driven correctly. Nice job!

Technically, it dropped you .65 second, which is a long way from a full second. Typically, a tenth in the 60' translates to .15-.18 in the 1/4, your example worked out much better.

Just the intake will get you in the 14.6's, and if the spring blocks can help you get a 2.20 60' or better, you will for sure be knocking on 14.4's. Real nice time for a mostly stock 13 yr old boat! The best I could get out of my 95 MTX was a 14.5, but I had cams in addition to the exhaust and CAI. Trap speeds of close to 97 show that she had more in her, I just couldn't find it.

Well, If you look at Nicks 2.0 60' time (Wich he did on street tires) I do think 14.5's as is, Is possible with that kind of 60' time. However I am not willing to test that theory on a stock clutch. We'll see what happens but this surely has made owning a SHO more exciting as I now have a Clear goal for this car. The best part is its hardly costing me a thing. Well.... That is until somthing breaks. ;)

Last year I ran a best of 15.07 @ 96.4 MPH, but with a ****** 2,53 60'. I know the car was able to go 14s, but this year the clutch is toast and o2s are dead so I did not beat that time.
