Last year I struggled with a cylinder 7 misfire problem only to find that I had a tight valve on that cylinder. I adjusted the valve and the car ran good for 9-10 months. Last week I had the SES light start flashing which was again a problem with #7. I checked and the valve was tight again. My dad and I adjusted it and got clearance, but I still have low compression in that cylinder. I'm assuming I still have a valve issue. What would cause this valve to keep doing this? A bad valve seat or something? I'm assuming I'm probably going to have to pull the head.

Yeah it's not the coil because the cylinder has low compression. I'm not sure what you mean about the head of the valve pulling off? You mean when we take the head off? Was this a problem on these cars?

It has happened before where the valves get so carboned up they stick open. When this happens it hits the piston and will break off sticking into the the piston.

One more thing I have to add. This was a cam fail car and it probably has less than 6-7000 miles on it since the valves were replaced. Did the person who replaced them possibly do something wrong? He bought and fixed cam failed sho's for a hobby and he seemed to know what he was doing.

Hey I went to college at that there IUP for several years.

Could be that some of the replacement parts were a little out of spec or maybe there was something damaged that was overlooked or skipped when it was repaired. Was this a new or known good head put on, or did he repair the cam failed one?
