My 99 SHO has been leaking oil for a couple weeks now..and i found out it is coming from the front and back valve covers. Me and my brother reconditioned the gaskets that are on there right now..but did nothing and they are still leaking.

I need to buy a pair....Can anyone help me out?

Thanks.

Anyone ever tried soaking them in gasoline? Are they rubber? I'm a G2 guy... I'm not familiar with G3's.. I've just had luck with gas and rubber gaskets before.

Yes, they are rubber. I believe Xylene is a close relative to gas in that of the Carbon chains, yes?

I have soaked them in Xylene and they become bloated and relieves it of all the carbon soaked inside the gaskets and they become very pliable. Works pretty good IMHO.

They use xylene by the tote at work to clean up paint.

If you use lacquer thinner, which is ~50/50 xylene and toluene to swell and soften the gaskets then soak in rislone for a day the gaskets will usually become pliable enough to reuse. If they are already cracked then they are trashed. The lacquer thinner is also a good octane booster/fuel system cleaner.
