I want to put on magnaflow mufflers on the stock exhaust. I dont want to do the 3rd cat delete just yet. How much of a difference will the muflers make with all cats still in?

Not sure I know what you mean by "difference"? It will sound better, but not likely it make any noticeable performance difference.

I put Magnaflows on my '99 stock system 8 years ago and they still sound great.
I have not broke any land speed records, but I'm pretty sure I could get a ticket in 30 seconds.

There are pretty much no speed gains to be had in the exhaust system. Most serious playing around with it by people over the years has tended to actually hurt times more than help. But if you leave the pressures about the same you can alter the sound to very pleasing effects.

Anybody ever heard of Magnaflow doing a deal with the y-pipe and mufflers?

Mine is now Magnaflow from the Y pipe through the cats. I could have bought the next section and mufflers too from them but wanted different mufflers as I found the Magnaflow ones too loud. But I am sure you can talk to them (or whomever you are buying the parts from) about a one price for the entire thing sort of deal. Worst that can happen is they say no.

Ron is right. Deleting any of the cats seems to cause power range shifts, but the 3rd in particular seems to be something of an outright loss, and at the worst possible place in the curve.

Basically, the engineers at Ford appear to have done a pretty solid job on power tuning in the exhaust, and as a result the engine works best, power, torque, and times wise, when you do the least to the exhaust.

Hello,
Other than the stock y-pipe, I built a full stainless exhaust system without the 3rd cat. Added an MBRP resonator and borla XS mufflers. Sound is great! I have nothing but gain in power but I also have a custom tuned SCT flash programmer. The car shifts hard and pulls hard. It's very quick.

Hello to all, what muffler would be good to replace my stock ones with that have a growl more than just raspy. I would like to stay away from BLOWMASTER. lol. Any ideas?
