Hey guys i have a 2013 SHO wanting to do some basic upgrades.. i heard by a previous owner to do a 170 thermostat, intake (which i have) , colder spark plugs, and a map sensor.. any suggestions of brands or upgrades? Im used to ls motors i need my sho to be a little faster.. Still new to this..

Most start with the Ecoboost Starter Pack and then add downpipes and intercooler to get low-mid 12s in the 1/4 mile. You can also upgrade the HPFP with a unit from XDI and add E30 fueling to be very low 12s and even possibly 11s in the right air.

In a nutshell, the SCT X4 is the base unit, it has wifi integration for updates, but requires a computer to load custom tune files and retrieve datalogs from the device. Can view/clear codes, performance computer resets and view realtime data.

The SCT BDX is the new version of the X4, with similar features but it also integrates Cloud functionality, which allows us to email files directly to your handheld via the SCT Cloud, and also allows you to email datalogs to yourself, minimizing the need for a computer. You do need access to a computer to create the datalog configuration file, but after that everything is via the Cloud.

The SCT Livewire TS+ has all of the bells and whistles, despite the cloud functions. It had track apps, a touch screen interface worthy of displaying on your dash, and a much cleaner display.

A few years ago we started dabbling in HPTuners for the SHO and have worked with the engineers at HPT to develop new options for the SHO, and earlier this year the RTD was launched which is a direct link between your laptop and the vehicle PCM. There's no user interface on the product itself, so it does require a laptop for loading tunes and datalogging, but IMO the software is leagues above SCT in terms of tuning potential and their engineering team is much more responsive to feedback.

I personally am tuned with HPTuners, but have used the SCT X4 for years with no issues. The hardware decision just comes down to what features you want as the end user. The tuning process is the same.

As for plug n play ability, the SHO unfortunately requires the handheld to interface with the Vehicle PCM in order to gather the information needed for us to complete the tune file, so we are unable to send them out preloaded with tunes. We do our best to make it as simple as possible though, with work instructions and premade datalog files to make it pretty straightforward.

We don't share our tune data, and make our customers sign an NDA not to disclose anything they see in our tunes since it is technically open source with HPTuners. There are some shared files on the HPT forums, but honestly they pretty... bad.

They usually carry a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or engineering, but the options for career advancement are virtually limitless. You can do a Cobb tune now, my local speedshop has me tuned by Cobb and i love everything about it. Feels like a larger Focus RS. I also had to sign a non disclosure form with them as they had to "build it from the ground up". Beats me but they said they got around the torque management and i see nearly 100% throttle opening. Device and tune were reasonable priced but the time on the dyno was over 2k$. It lights up the tires like my lms tune did, its about time for new tires already. It also dont have that off the line lag like every other tuned car has, its quick as **** off the line. Really shows in my 60' time.

If Cobb is supporting the SHO platform now, that's a game changer for sure. I may have to look into that as they tuned my sons GTI and it screams.

I just started running a lms 93 tune on my 16. Its stock. I thew a drop in filter in it and some new motorcraft plugs that i gapped at .030 and it woke right up. The my calibrator touch isnt the most fancy tuner but works well and gives alot of gauge option if you know what your looking at. For me it works good. I bought a warranty on my car when i got it so im not gonna mod the shit outa it only for that reason. I know some folks arent very high on the livernois tunes. Atleast not on the sho forums. Mostly ppl that ran way earlier versions. Ive been pretty satisfied with it though. And most of there customers are it sounds like. I know my stock luxury car will bark 2nd gear and thats alright with me.

I really liked my Livernois tune, v11 ripped. Too bad i had fueling issues on it. I had better 60' times with Livernois compared to my sct tunes. Cobb tune makes it like my livernois tune but more safer

I don’t see the sho listed on their website, while the Cobb canned tunes are generally meh, another tuning device option would be great. I have used the accessport before and it’s logging capabilities are great.

I dont usually put a tune in and leave it. I have 4 tuners i use, the one im gunna tune for next is hptuners. Its amazing how different the car feels with multiple tuners.

I just ordered HPFP, Gearhead intercooler, E40 tune and I already have the basic mods cold air intake, 3map. Do you think I can run in the low 12’s in good weather
