Hey everyone,

Ever since I got my SHO I noticed these ugly corrosion spots on the pasenger side window moudlings. The drivers side front and back windows look ok, with only small bubbles on the drivers window. This only occurs on the passenger side! Also these two windows make a thump noise as they get near the top, as if they were out of their track and then aligned themselves right before closing.

Here are the pix:

Yea, that is ugly! But, it's not the only Taurus that I have seen it on. Actually 90% of the Taurus's up here in Montreal, that I have seen, have that rust problem. Perhaps it is more on the passenger door because the door was changed and was taken from an older Taurus at one time. shrug
Call Ford and see if you can replace those mouldings.
Good luck.

Actually they aren't that hard to replace, my car had all four like that when I got it. Although it does take a while to find some at a wrecker that are in decent shape! I eventually got mine from an 89 model which fit my 93 perfect. To take them off you have to take the inside door skin off and take off one bolt for the front doors at the front bottom corner of the door. After that's off they just snap in and out. I remember that the backs only took a couple of minutes and the fronts took a bit longer because they are a little more ackward. Take your time I paid $40 for all the mouldings from a local auto wrecker that even included the door whiskers. Don't over look the older 89-91's because they are usually in better shape then the newer ones. My car has probably 4 different whiskers from different cars! one door whisker from each car. the window mouldings actually all came from an 89.
It may look like a big deal but its really not
Good Luck

If you have trouble finding good ones, you should ask around here, there are lots of ppl that live far enough south that rust like that never happens. I have never seen corrosion like that on any Taurus ever, than again I have only see pictures of rusty Taurii, never one in person.

More than likely, the reason it is only on the passenger side is because the passenger side is the one that is always riding in the gutter and splashing salt spray all over the car.

no rust
(think living in Georgia has something to do with that?)

Actually I usually find that it is the drivers side that gets most of the abuse from all of the passing cars and especially the transport trucks! I absolutely dread meeting a transport truck on the road after it has been salted. You can hear the paint chips being made as they drive by. I hate the stupid winter...poor SHO! Oh yea, my doors look similar to that but not that bad yet.

Couldn't find it in the yellow pages. Do you need any help installing the trimmings? I have never done it myself but I am willing to help.
