Well, now that MikeD has thoroughly engrained my head with racing
around a track (with 32 psi in the tires) and I can't get any work
done, I spent some time inquiring about the May 6-7 DE Event at Texas
World Speedway.

So the good news is that YES, we are confirmed for a discounted price
for both days of $188.50 per driver.

If you were planning on spending $250 and would still like to spend
$250, please send your savings to me and I will buy beer for
everyone! Hmmm...you know, that equates to 9-six packs of good beer
or 15-6 packs of regular beer...per person!!

Rock on!! Even if for some reason I don't have the SHO by then, I have a Mustang GT laying in wait that everyone can easily lap me in.

Oh yeah! This isn't just for SHO owners...EVERYONE is invited! In fact, last year there was a guy who's car wasn't ready, so he rented a Mustang! I am guessing he bought the extra insurance waiver...

Copied from FordBastards...and spell checked...

I have received several e-mails from folks on other websites, so this has already spread really well. As a result of all the questions, I thought I would make a few comments about the event and how we'll go about signing up.

First, signing up for the May 6-7 event will probably begin late next month or early April.

Second, the car club I belong to here in Houston, ConeCrazy, will take the sign-up forms and the money. They are the ones who first negotiated the deal last year and Jack Turner, GM of TWS, said go ahead and come in with those guys.

Third, there is a Vehicle Technical Inspection Form (http://www.texasworldspeedway.com/technicalinspectionform.html) that is supposed to be filled out by a mechanic. In my case, Sergio filled it out and he didn't have to lie! Up in Dallas, Tony should be able to take care of that. I'm not sure who to use in SA, but any certified mechanic, although that is NOT specified on the form...

Finally, I have a habit of bringing a lot of stuff with me to TWS because the facility can hold a lot. Remember, they have covered paddocks. So I bring a tool box, a floor jack, racing rims (change them right there in the paddock), an ice chest for drinks and food (naturally, there is no alcohol allowed), some cash (there is a cafeteria), sun block, a hat, a folding chair, both a still and video camera, and an electric fan (for the hotter months).

Regarding the Vehicle Technical Inspection Form...this lets you know what kind of shape your car should be in. However, my form was never collected. And it's not like my engine does not leak oil...it does...but not so you would notice while it's just sitting there.

Sergio, MikeD, Russ (FreakSHO), and Russ (T-Bird) will hopefully chime in with any other comments about TWS and the things you might consider bringing.

Oh and there is a wide variety of hotels (large college town!) and most importantly, there is a Fox and Hound not far from the track...
