1st of all, let me apologize for the poor quality cell phone pics. It was all I had available when I was working last night.

Here's a pic comparing the length of the '94/'95 input shaft with the older T5 input shaft:

Input

Due to the fact that the throw out bearing rides on the slave cylinder in the Aerostar bellhousing, the tube to the bearing retainer can be cut off.

Retainer cut

Retainer cut1

Got the transmission partially assembled. Now I need to figure out the thickness of the input shaft end play shim I need and get that.

I actually don't have that many. I just picked up that metal cutting band saw for $100 a couple weeks ago, I have a friend with a welder, and another friend who runs a machine shop, and I've personally got a big box of sockets and wrenches that I can never find anything in.

So no, I don't have cool tools... my friends do. :nut:

Well I have made more headway that's worth posting. I've made a bunch of headway, but nothing to exciting to write about. Anyway, I've got some sooper ******* parts.

I sold the differential shown above, due to the fact that I decided to use a T56 transmission and needed other gear ratio options. I bought a Supra diff and here are the axle adapters. They're dual bolt pattern that allow it to adapt to the OEM XR4Ti axles, as well as the larger Euro Cosworth axles. I have just acquired a set, along with the larger outer stubs to bolt them too. Now I don't have to worry about breaking any drivetrain parts:

Now for the fun stuff! I got a set of custom made 8.0:1 compression CP pistons. They have much less thermal expansion rate than the Wisecos available, as well as being stronger! They're available in any compression ratio, as well as any bore, etc, etc. You can contact my guy at [email protected]. No disrespect meant to Josh or his parts here. I have and will be doing much more business with him.

Well, I got my Supra differential mounted in the XR rear beam. It took a better part of the day figuring out exactly how I wanted to do it, but I am very happy with how it turned out. Lots of cutting, welding, and grinding!

Now I've gotta build a bracket to attach the rear end of it to the bottom of the car. That part will be MUCH easier!

Jason's right about the CR. No need to go that low, but what ever floats your boat. The heads on these motors are very efficient as far as warding off knock due to their shape and cooling attributes.

Cool project though, should be fun when finished. :thumb:
