Long story short, I ended up with a base TwEECer that 'came with' an 80mm MAF I bought from a friend and good SHO mechanic who was moving and was cleaning out a lot of SHO stuff.

Another friend and SHO mechanic who lives somewhat nearby has the TwEECer software on his laptop, so I arranged to pay him to configure my PCM with the TwEECer so I can run either the 80mm MAF or the stock MAF or a 73mm C&L MAF (which uses the same MAF curve as a stock MAF). While he was at it, I had him lower the temp at which the fan comes on about 10 deg., and raise the revs at which the secondaries open to about 4,200.

The 80mm MAF is installed now, so when I open 'er up in 1st gear, the car really jumps (mucho torque steer!) when the secondaries open! It pulls stronger and gets to redline quicker! With the larger MAF I can now take better advantage of the BBBs, ported intake, and SHOSource 2.5 inch catback exhaust. ;)

Small detail: when we pulled the PCM out (an X2J), it had a sticker on it stating that it was remanufactured. My mechanic pointed out that the car seemed to run a little rich, and that sometimes reman PCMs aren't set up as precisely as they could be. So he did some work with the TwEECer software and adjusted the air/fuel ratio to factory, and after that the engine definitely ran (and runs) smoother. :sun:

what was the reasoning on moving the secondary rpm?
just because?

No, my driving style. I've found that when I'm driving a little briskly (not WOT) on twisty rural roads, with a fair number of turns, I end up getting to around 4,000 just before backing off or shifting, and a lot of times the secondaries open when I don't want 'em to. So 4,200 seemed a good change to try. Since I can have that parameter changed again via the TwEECer, it's sort of on an experimental basis.

If your mechanic through that your car ran a little rich that's because it did. These cars are tuned pig rich, especially in the high RPM's from the factory. Nothing out of the Normal.

I assume the 80mm MAF curve you are using is the base curve that Josh released on his website years ago. It's decent, but it can be improved upon for sure. Enjoy.

Yes, what was programmed is the 80mm curve from the Tweecer software, whatever is in my mechanic's Tweecer software in his laptop.

My mechanic does know SHOs real well, so I take him at his word that the car was running richer than it ought to. It was off a bit from OEM, was reset to the OEM curve and now runs a bit leaner.
