At the track today. Full bolt on 150 shot 3 valve 4.6 with drag radials. Trying to upload vidoe but it won't let me for some reason. Got him by about 1/2 a car. Cool guy damn good race. Not sure what he ran but I ran 8.41 at 82.6. We both cut 1.90 60 ft. He did tell me that because he could believe he couldn't get around me. Also outran a drag radial and exaust Lightning.

Way to go, look is priceless when they get beat by a Taurus. Nice Job!!!
I honestly don't understand this mentality of "just a Taurus". When someone gets beat by an EVO do they say it's priceless when they get beat by a Lancer? No one considers a Taurus a performance vehicle as no one really considers a Lancer a performance vehicle. At the same time the EVO is considered a performance vehicle just as the SHO is as well.

If they came with the performance that they have with a simple tune I think it would garner a little more respect but stock they aren't a lot faster than a hemi charger or g37.

So because they aren't MUCH faster than 2 performance vehicles they aren't respected?

I live in a college town and go to the car meets all the time with car enthusiasts. Nearly all of them know what the car is and that it's not simply a Taurus. Again, to think it's just a Taurus is the same as thinking an Evo is just a Lancer. Those who don't know the difference between the SHO/Taurus are the same people who aren't going to know the difference between an Evo/Lancer or STI/Impreza.

Just playing Devils advocate everyone who actually knows what the car is likes it a lot. My car gets as much attention at the track as many other much faster cars. Guys who know about em dig it.

I have I owned all previous Gen's of the SHO since 2000. That "it's just a Taurus. " has been around for along time. Mike Kraus was invited to a big time car show couple weeks and was asked why his SHO was there. He had to show them his banner with all his records. Then they said "OH". Real car nuts know what we have and what they have been able to do, but most don't. It's just part of owning a SHO.

It's for this very reason that I never admit to driving a Taurus to people not in the know. When people ask what I run, I say, "I have a 2012 Ford SHO." If they know what it is, Taurus never needs to be said. If they don't, then they tend to look lost, at which time I explain, "it's a sleeper based on the Taurus, and even uses the Taurus nameplate - but in spite of looking like one on the outside, they really have almost nothing else in common."

I'm the opposite I love the looks on their faces when they figure out the difference.

I can appreciate that - and I still get that when on the road, where not a lot of discussion is taking place ;) Funny story to go along with this... but I only tell people what I drive when they ask, not at a stop light. ;) And those that get told (rather than SHOwn) are often impressed (or at least pretend to be lol)... and those are people I'd never find at the strip anyhow, so, no big.

When I went to visit my parents I showed them my new to me Taurus SHO and left it at that. My mom thought it was just an everyday Taurus. But she's also the same type of person that would think an Evo is just a Lancer. My dad immediately knew what it was without any explanation.

I tell everyone I drive a Taurus SHO. If they don't know what it is that's fine if they think it's a standard Taurus because I'm not trying to brag about it or anything. But most people I've talked to know the difference.
