OK guys, need some help...I'm at wits end right now...:nut:

My '89 is down for the count right now...The problem is that the transmission in it is junk and I am just trying to hold it over until I can swap my '93 Tranny over to the '89...I think I have sheered a tooth off the first gear shaft and there probably is some metal shavings in the case, so I'm in the process of just changing the fluid and babying it for the time being...I know, it is not the best idea but it will do for right now...

Here is the problem, of course it is a MTX, and I cannot for the life of me find where to add the fluid to the transaxle...I have looked at it for well over 45 min now both on the top side and on the bottom side but to no avail...

Can some of you MTX guys chime in and help me out, until then I am stuck LOL....:thankyou:

ur fill plug is on the front side of the tranny........looks like a freeze plug all u do is stick a 3/8 rachet head into the plug...........u can use the plug rite below it as a drain plug (DO NOT AND I REPEAT "DO NOT"!!!!!!!!) touch ur shifter or linkage while this bolt is out

heres a pic the bolt on bottom is the one u can use for a drain plug.....above it u can c the fill hole

the fun part is getting the fluid out, and back into the case. There are a few ways of doing it, siphon pump, elec. pump, vacuum cleaner method, turkey baster.....etc...Just search. The best alternative is to drill and tap for a hew plug on the bottom of the case, again, just search, its been done many times.

Thanks for the help guys!!!!....:thankyou:...the pic made it crystal clear

...But upon further inspection I dont think it will be TOO long at all before my '89 is down again and I will be swapping transmission...just hope it will hold together for the time being with whatever I sheared on the inside of the case...

FYI there is a strong magnet inside the tranny case that will no douth pick up any filings that you could possible get out doing a drain. But it wouldn't hurt to change the fluid either, just don't be very surprised if you don't see a lot of metal in the ATF when you drain it.
