I had my half shafts replaced; both sides. After traveling 27 miles home; discover oil leak next morning. When the mechanic removed the right side, the half shaft became separated from the interconnecting shaft, a part fell on the floor; the mechanic picked it up; put it on the bench. I do not know if he remembered to put it back.

Anyway, my question is: If this was not put back in, could it have cause a leak? And should the retainer clip (3Z498); stop ring (N803655-8) and the bolts (N605904-S100) all be discarded and replced new.

Can anyone suggest what might have happen? There are no "broken" parts

Thanks

The oil leak is probaly a axle seal. They ( both sides) should have been replaced while the axles was out. What part fell on the floor, The seperated axle? The passenger side does not have a clip. The bolts for the center bearing can be reused. The stop ring I'm not sure about. If it is the white plastic collar near the axle splines ( tranny end) then yes reuse it. Hope it helps. Mike

The axle did not fall on the floor; it look like a "large' washer. Since I only watching; it could have been the cup or ring part of the seal. I cannot find a illustration of an axle seal on my manual. Is there another terminology for them?
Thanks for you reply, too.
