As you are there and maybe want to do some others repairs, I put this for future questions.

96 SHO
Trans solenoids

-> Correct me Eric but blue plug are for 97, 98 and 99 SHO.
-> Greyish/pink plug (as seen here) are for 96 SHO (some 97 too IIRC ?) and SLO

Eric : Is it the same part number for SLO and SHO ? I'm looking at the part on pictures from both and they look very similar... Just to be sure he will replace with a good one.

96 SLO (normal Taurus)
Slo 96

Same parts for the solenoid's as you mentioned. Late 97 possibly, but 98-99 utilize a different resistance changing how the computer sees them. Not using the right part will ultimately lead to the computer throwing a code, but just needs to be swapped for the right part.

I think the split is between the first two years and the second two years.

96/97 got one style, 98/99 got the other ones.

I am unsure of the color, and indicated that in my post above. I am also unsure if different between SLO and SHO in similar years.

Ok, one thing is sure. If you got TCC solenoid with a blue plug for 96-97 trans, isn't good... normally.

But here, the '96 trans is going into a '98 car... not sure which one is good for...

At that point, your ECU just needs to match. If you have a '98+ go with the high resistance TCC. Otherwise if Pre-98, don't change a thing.
