Good day all,

I have been hearing new problem that I too am experiencing. On long trips, or more correctly, a long time in O/D, will cause trans fluid to leak, or POUR in my case, from the trans. I suspected the TCC was slipping causing more heat in the trans, so I by-passed the TCC. The TCC slipping was not the cause in my case because the trans did the same exact thing today, that it did a week or so ago, at the same EXACT distance of 35 miles (+/- one mile). It was like a switch this time... As soon as I hit the magic mileage, the trans started to pump the fluid out the torque converter seal, from what I could see of it.

I am requesting all the owners this has happened to, post their experiences with as much detail as they can... How many miles did it take... The outside temp at the time... was the trans rebuilt or not... any extra trans fluid coolers added... and anything else that will help me in this quest to find the cause and come up with a fix for it.

Thanks all!!

Mine is a 98...

This is what happended to me this past week... I sold the car and the new owner made it 30 miles on I-20 doing about 70-80. He called me and said the trans was leaking and he pulled into a parking lot. I got there, added fluid and drove it home with no problems or additional fluid leak, but I didn't travel the full 30 miles at one time. I moved it two exits closer to my house and left it to cool completely, then returned later to drive it home. Suspecting my TCC was slipping and causing excessive heat, I by-passed the TCC and fooled the computer with a 15-OHM resistor. Everything was great. The TCC didn't engage and I didn't get the O/D OFF light blinking at me. I drove it around town like this with no problems, like before with the TCC normal. On the way to drop off the car, at the exact same exit, fluid started pumping out of the trans as if I turned on a switch or opened a valve. It didn't smell burnt or was it overly hot and I never got an O/D OFF light blinking.
