I'm looking into buying a transmission for my 93 ATX. It is a 95, and has around 110k miles on it. How much longer should it last in a daily driver?

Also, the people who replaced my transmission originally (the first time), said there were like three or four different ones made that year, and that I would have to make sure the replacement one I got matched what was already on my car. On here, I've heard that any transmission from a gen 2 will work in my 93. Is this true?

So the SHO transmissions ALL have the AX4S code? But they have to have specific SHO parts in it? And how many miles would that transmission normally have left in it?

all the Taurus transmissions of that vintage were AX4S, but the SHO had more heavy duty parts than the others, so you need to be sure to get the SHO part.

*bump*

If I get the computer, how would I do the swap (computer)? Would a shop do it, and how much should it cost?

Switching the comp is very simple. Unplug your battery undo the 10mm bolt connector on the computer located on the pass side fire wall. Drop the glove box and remove the plastic holder and pull the old computer out. Reverse to install.

Thanks so much!

Will the new computer be able to run everything in the old car just fine?

Yes, it is a direct swap with no other modifications required. The only real difference between the H31Z (or was it H13Z? I can't remember exactly what it was) and the D4U1 is the shift schedules, which are much better.

btw, I have been told that the 93 atx pcm does not have a speed limiter, while the D4U1 does.
