it depends, a lot of the scanners will not read the abs stuff, just the obd stuff.

this same scanner connected when i had my old abs module in. even tho my older one had a bunch of unsoldered wires. This one is a junkyard one from the same year.

Do you have another similar vehicle to test against to make sure the scanner is still working? Otherwise, double check your connections. I'd imagine you'd have issues if something wasn't working on the ABS...

It's def communicating with my v6 tauris abs. It's an innova 3040 scanner. It could very well be the abs module i put in from the junkers is bad. and yes its a sho one they said it was a 99.
I have no abs light on or anything.

Just my 2 cents, but if you have hard shifts, it can be the neutral switch on the transmission. 1996 (and 1997?) have a TSB for that. But with time after 135k, seems good to change it anyway. Ok, I rode another post you made, it seems you have changed it. Did you change the TPS ? It can help too.

Do you know if last owner has put a trans go shift kit ? (It's possible.)

It's hard shifts on all speeds or between specific speeds (for example always between 2-3 shift) ?

I had harsh shifts on mine and I put Lucas transmission fix bottle in it and it help it a lot. (But the source of the problem was finally the gas pump losing power progressively, producing hard shifts sometimes mostly during hot situation (weather or motor). The gas pump must be changed after 135k OMOA.

it's always 1-2 i replace tps sensor

it only seems to have most power after 2nd gear and is shift smooths from 3 -4

I tested fuel rail pressure seemed good to me im just not sure.

i dont think they put a shift kit in it.

I set my tps sensor to . 998 But I notice when i check that voltage when the engine is hot it's higher like over 1 volt

I'm not sure at 100% because I rode many many thing here but IIRC a post from Paul Nimz long time ago, the voltage isn't suppose to go over 1 volt... Upgrading progressively to 1 volt at WOT (wide open throttle) IIRC.

But if it's always the same shift (the 1-2 in this case), it can be the shift solenoid #1 (Rockauto has it), under the transmission cover... But I will try a Lucas bottle before opening the transmission.



Fuel pressure must be between 30 psi at idle and 40-41 psi at WOT. (I personnaly verified this fact and Paul Nimz confirmed to me the same thing.)

My tps at closed throttle position on a HOT engine was reading over 1 volt. Im not sure if thats a good or bad thing.
not sure if the tps should be adjusted on hot or cold engine im starting to think should be adjusted on a hot engine.

You have to find old Paul Nimz posts on TPS. Better to start with V8SHO.com (he is electrician and he knows what he said about that). (Sorry, I don't remember exactly what he said.) :S

IIRC, hot or cold isn't supposed to change voltage, only throttle position will affect it. Wide open will generate a higher voltage. Paul Nimz talked about 0.998 volt at the max if I recall correctly.

I was setting my cold to .998 but hot im guessing the metal expands

Ok, I found the post of Paul. I was wrong, you have to be the nearest possible of 1.0 volt but just under it (like 0.997 v) at idle, at WOT, you're in the 4.2 volt range. However, there is no mention on cold and hot adjustement...

Theres one thing that ive found with tps adjustment regarding my car my shift point resolved to near normal by adjusting my tps way higher than .998. I bumped mine up to 1005 volts on my last test and my tranny was near normal now im testing even higher.

i think this is because there is a range the computer looks for with the tps voltage. and the computer likes a higher voltage for some reason. Maybe im adjusting it to work better with my valve im not sure. ive been testing it and my hard shift is much much bettr with a voltage alot higher than the .998.

to get to .998 i don t think youd have enlarge the screw holes. i enlarged mine tho which i think doing so is unnecesary.

Would anybody know why a base voltage to my tps would keep shifting. I set it high 1 volt tranny shifts better couple days later and a bit of driving it drops down to .998

I said it today to 1010 check it again after a drive drops again. does the ecm vary the voltage?
