A tire that wide will not help your handling at all on a stock rim. The sidewall will be so flexed that a hard corner could unmount the bead.

can i fit a 235 or 245 size tire on a gen II?
For best fit and performance the wheel should be 8" wide. I have 235/45WR-17 mounted on 17X8 OZ wheels. I needed to roll the rear fenders for clearance. The GEN2 should have more room than the GEN1.

My offset is +35. These OZ Racing Superleggra are getting harder to find. They are the lightest 17X8 wheels I could find with 1500+lbs load capacity at 16lbs each.

OH you didn't know
18x8 with 235/40-18 and no rubbing....There is another member with 245/45-17 and his tires rubbed until he "massaged" the rear fenders.
