I have a 2013 SHO, 15k on the clock when I got her last November. She had a set of Michelins with good tread on all four corners. I was told by a friend that these cars EAT tires. One year later and I'm putting a new set of tires on the sho. As I said it's a 2013 non performance package car and I really love it but I don't like the idea of replacing the tires every year.. I rotate the tires every oil change. Am I doing something wrong? Any ideas?

Yeah, stop getting on it :)

Sorry to be flippant. Both my SHO's eat/ate tires. But that's what happens with torque.

Mine had what appeared to be brand new Michelin Primacys on it when I bought mine. I was expecting it to eat tires too, and last spring I was hoping to have them last a few thousand miles. I still have them and I'm at 42,000 miles on them right now, and I wouldn't be shocked if I got another couple thousand out of them. 15K sounds a bit low unless you are hammering it at every single stop light.

Maybe your friend was referring to the summer Goodyear F1 tires that came OEM with the SHO? They last at most 20K miles, sometimes only 10K miles. Also OEM Michelin A/S aren't the greatest tires :( Seen a few complaints of early deterioration, cracking in particular.

Do you know when your SHO was actually built? The tires could be 4+ years old. 6-7 years is the maximum life expectancy for a tire, driven or not. Plus you have to keep up with suspension "maintenance". Has the alignment been verified?

I had decent life out of my first set of Michelins on my 2011 SHO (bought at 17K), at least 45K, probably closer to 50K.

Bought my '13 certified with 37k on it and brand new Michelins....they lasted to 80k at which point they were almost bald! I rotate religiously. Currently skinned wth Conti xtreme contact DWS06's (which I totally love) and about 2/3 worn with 25k on them. As Krewat mentioned, if you don't want to eat tires.....don't get on it LoL! But then, why own a SHO?

I didn't get a SHO and add an LMS tune, CAI, 3bar to drive like an old lady...I :whip: my green lady! I fully expected her to eat rubber, and she hasn't disappointed LoL, just what I consider price of admission to this fine family.

I drive +\- 30k per year....at a grand per set of tires it ain't cheap, but performance cars are never cheap to feed and care for. ****....I'm saving up for her next engine already, and that's on TOP of further upgrades to come. Still cheaper than a pasta rocket :bonk:

Ground my Primacys into powder in under 20k miles. Didn't really care for them anyway. Just put on a set of Firehawk Indy 500 tires. Gotta pay to play I guess.

They go FAST! The tires AND the cars. That's why I don't put the Michelins on...I don't know that they'd hold up any longer than the Conti DWS06's.

I just learned for myself that a 275/40/20 will fit in the front with a 9.5 x 20 30mm offset. These are also the firehawks. My intention was to buy 2 wheels and 2 tires planning on the rear-being a 275 tire preparing for a staggered set up because I like the way Mike's (bpd1151) car looks. So, I put 1 on the front and back because I was curious. A couple days passed then second person helped me check for clearances up front when turning in both directions. We tried to "give" the suspension, but those H & R springs are stiff mothers! The new "dull" finish of the tire made it stand out from the gloss wheel and car so, when I shined the tire and it blended real nice. I prefer all 4 tires being the same size. Step 2-order more of the same.
