So I went by to check the place out today and order a set of grilles for my car. Met Adam, Steve and Pam....they were all super cool!

Explained the reasoning for falling off the planet a little and I understand. They werent originally getting enough interest to justify spending the money on molds and stuff. This leads me to my next comment. The problem with the slow aftermarket support with these cars is that we're a minority. The majority of people who buy the cars arent going to mod them so aftermarket companies dont want to invest the money in R&D of new parts for just a few people to buy.

So......we need to gangup on some companies so they see that people are actually interested in modding these. I know it will work...Pretty sure I can speak to the amount of tuners that Livernois is kicking out now...i know it's more than they expected. It's forums like these that lead others to get involved.

I personally will continue to try new stuff and try to gain support. You guys have helped tremendously with purchasing stuff from Livernois...I know they have plans to really support the Ecoboost now and I'm pretty sure new parts will be available soon. I'll be getting the radiator, 170 degree t-stat and meth injection in along with the new grilles in the next couple weeks....and then?????

Sorry for the rant, back to Mobsteel...those guys gave me alot of info today and were extremely helpful...I take back anything I might have said about them not responding to emails...Adam told me today they spend alot of time in the shop but need to be more diligent in responding to their customers and I believe they will. They run a first class operation there. And for anyone who may have said that their Brembos were non functioning I can assure you they are.

Enough for now...I'll be pushing this car to it's limit soon enough!

Until then..Happy Motoring!!

I applaud you, thats for sure. Gotta keep the dream alive! I was sure hoping the new car would launch the aftermarket for the Taurus. I think that mostly enthusiasts own them. We can only hope at this point.

Got it. I'll call 2morw. What were the options or colors? Cost? What was your turn around time

I thank you everyday....maybe not out loud! :hail:

They color match the trim and the mesh is either stainless or black powdercoat.

Not cheap $700 for upper and lower but the craftsmanship and fit/finish is spectacular!

Turnaround time is about 2 weeks...trying to get mine by April 6th;) so the rest of my plan can come together.

On behalf of all of us, thank you for taking the time to head over to MS and pay the staff there a personal visit. I'm glad to hear you walked away with a great experience and hopefully others will feel equally pleased likewise

Hey no problem! Been wanting to check that place out anyway. I know there will be some new stuff out this year. It's not really my place to say what and when but it will be out there soon enough!

And... don't forget Torrie @ Unleashed Tuning & Fast Parts Network. He's the one who got the radiators and 170 Deg. Thermostats made for our EB engines. Also has a pretty kick-ass tune. I got my original SCT tuner & tunes from him a year ago, before Livernois came out with theirs. Ran Torries Boosted Tune (stage 3 or 4) for nearly 18K continuous miles. Even with my smaller tire diameters (over 7%), my mileage numbers went up!

If I had a SHO... would have that MOBSTEEL grille on ASAP.. My Brick had it's Carriage Works Grille installed by me, 2 days after I drove it home from dealer!

Great review of Mobsteel, and since you have always been right one with your info, I would now feel comfortable buying from them. Thanks Darrell. Now the only question is the lower grill and ACC.

Thank you for taking the time to visit Mobsteel Darrel! I wish I was close enough to do the same however after reading about your experience there, it makes me feel even more comfortable regarding my purchase of their grille! After speaking with Pam on the phone the other day, it seemed like they knew what they were talking about however it's always nice to have a first-hand account. I like how you said that their grille appears to be crafted well and looks good.
I placed my order the other day and I really can't wait to get it! It should look absolutely amazing on your silver SHO as well. Congrats and thanks again for the review :)

Good post Darrell :thumb:

I knew you and I spoke a few times via telephone about this very same issue (not enough interest as it relates to potential vendors investing in the R&D and subsequent production of aftermarket products).

It is unfortunate, but you and I both know that there exists a huge pool of untapped potential buyers out there for this platform of Gen4 SHO's.

I tried convincing Adam of this very fact a year ago and through a multitude of follow-up emails, phone calls, Etc....

But like you said, no vendor in his (or her) right mind, especially given today's current economic climate, will go that extra mile unless the interest is there from more than just a handful of people.

Which is why also I kept suggesting (as did you) for other people to chime and call/email and downright pester the folks over at MS to see this project alone to completion.

On behalf of all of us, thank you for taking the time to head over to MS and pay the staff there a personal visit. I'm glad to hear you walked away with a great experience and hopefully others will feel equally pleased likewise.

Great job :thumb:

You took the words right out of my mouth, Mike...well said and well deserved.
Adam certainly proved his promise with me: He emailed me about half dozen times in a couple days and is very interested in we SHO owners....

I'm sure now that he understands that we're just as interested in his product, tho we naturally have a few questions of course.:)

I will buy the grills. I'm hooked. No question now. :)
What I need most tho is the car so I can clear (and pay for) some of the mods I've already got laying around. (wifey has been dropping hints;)).

I know he doesn't have much time but I really wish Adam could spend at least a little time here with us to get a feel for what's up. Maybe someone already is. If so I'd love to see them post up with a "Hi y'all"
LMSRick finds the time and BIG KUDOS TO HIM for doing so --
I rest my case.....while I look forward to 1/ getting the car and 2/ ordering Adam's grills.

C.

Man that looks sweet, would love one.

Not sure how it would look on mine, it's platinum white.

Stainless grill or black mesh, which would look best, if either?

Suggestions?
