Throttle stick?

Starting from a stop light,An A6 Audi was really wanting to race. Usually i'll my car the gas up to 50 mph and then slow down.

This time the car gas pedal stuck "to the floor", and the car JUST took off.

I freaked-out and shut the engine off from the egnition. After i rolled to a stop, i pulled the excelator to the normal position.

Yeah , i know, should not have raced. I actually had the A6 , i seen him shift and my car made atleast a half car lead.

Anyways what's the deal , has this happen to anyone.

I am almost affraid to drive the car, i am suprised an 1999 model would even have problems like this so early.

My 1976 911 Porsche did this, but its a 1976!

my bolt came lose on my cruise control and got mine hung in a bind and had the engine run at high rpms. maby that is the problem if not maybe the cable on the cruise is getting stuck?

I do have new floor mats, the pedal was stuck all the way down after the car was shut off. I doubt it was the cruise but i am open for all options.

I had the throttle stick open at WOT but it was a cruise control malfunction. Cycling the key would let the pedal return to normal.

Other wise maybe a dirty TB plate. It gets carbon behind it and may be binding. This should be able to be felt when actuating the throttle plate through it's entire range of motion by hand.

oddly enough, SHORTLY after I bought my sho at 73K, the throttle would stick a bit (annoying, but not dangerous). I took it back in for them to fix it... all they did was clean the TB.
The only other gen.3 I have ever road in (test drive at a used car lot) did the EXACT same thing (the pedal would stick a bit). This car had ABOUT the same mileage too :corn:

Does the engine turn off if you turn the key off while moving? If so, why didn't you shift into neutral??

I was affraid the car would blow up in neutral. It would be like reving your car in neutral with the gas floored. NOt a good idea in my mind. I just shut the car off, the car would not start until the gas pedal was pulled up.

The throttle body was dirty and some parts was lubed to improve the motion. Allot better now.

I went ahead and had the car aligned too , 90 bucks and all is good.
