Loosen the bolt that holds the pulley on...and the un-screw the allen head bolt to relieve tension. The bolt holds it in place once under tension.

I use a 5mm hex bit on about 18" of extensions. Piece of cake with the right tool. Of course, you do need to loosen the 14mm nut slightly.

As usual, projectsho89 is right on the money. You have to use an extra long extention, or extentions to get to it. There is a hole in the engine damper bracket that allows you to access the hex bolt. You can also just remove the damper if you want to, but it isn't necessary if all you want to do is change the belt.

If you want a complete how to, with pictures, go to the phoenixshoproject.com and click on the 60K maintenance. Just scroll throught it to the part about removing the belts.

It's not necessary to remove it, but it is necessary to remove the lower nuts or upper bolts to swing it out of the way and pull the belt off.

Put your head toward the firewall and look down by the camshaft sensor, you will see a straight shot at the hex head and realize why you need the long extension Steve is talking about. I found it easier to use the 1/4" extensions, because the 3/8" is a little tight in there and when you pull it back out, the socket can hang up and fall off in there.

Good luck and don't forget to tighten the nut on the pulley when you're finished. I forgot the last time I changed my belt and I lost the pulley on the highway! :slap:
