I performed the last valve gapping that I will do yesterday on a silver, 1994, 3.2L SHO... prior to returning back to work tomorrow. Yes, that is correct. I will be reporting back to a former work assignment with Raytheon (defense electronics) where I was writing software and building mobile networks to process image information for our country's armed services. I liked working with them before, but they just didn't pay me enough to hang on to me. I jumped on the telecom bandwagon right before it rolled off that very tall cliff. The good folks at Raytheon requested my return and have corrected the salary situation. I should be with them for quite a while.

You may notice that I will not be responding to questions in the Forum until the normal after work hours. It's been an unusual 11 months of unemployment and SHO camaraderie, but it feels good to be heading back to the responsibility, benefits and financial security involved with an interesting and mentally challenging job. SHOs will still be my hobby and I fully intend to service them for those that wish it.

Thank you for your kindness and support during time away from full time employment.

Sounds very exciting Scott! Nothing like the "warm and fuzzy" feeling of a job well done. Thanks for all the help you've provided me and everyone else who visits the forum. Good luck on the new endeavor!

Scott I think you would be voted most respected/valued member of this forum & I cannot even imagine what a company must think of you as an employee... no sucking up, I know this man's work ethic. From the time I seen you last I've been dismantling SHOs and building and maintaining my own to the point now I feel I can almost do anything. Thanks for being part of the reason I kept my 93 & learned enough to pick up another 91 & service them both. Good luck in your new/old career and tell the family hi from the Varneys from the north wink Take care Scott and maybe I'll see you making these late night posts since your forum time will be squeezed in like mine now thumbs_u

About time ya got back to work, ya bum!!!! wink

Great news Scott!!For you and your family anyway. Bad news for the rest of us who have gotten used to you checking this board every few hours to bail our ignerint arses out. I was really hoping that you would eventually get tired of being a bum....uhhh I mean unemployed and relocate to lovely Ellington, CT. Of course our winters would take their toll on your immortal '91. Does that thing have a name, anyway? Just don't give it a gushy chick name like everybody else here does. I am racking my brain trying to remember the biblical figure who lived a real long time, Methusula? Help me out biblical scholars.

So, what's your new work e-mail ad? When my SHO is having a problem I don't wanna have to wait for you to get home, play with your daughter, mow the lawn, do all that other trivial stuff before you sit down and get to your primary purpose in life.....keeping all our SHOs running!!!!

It's nice to hear about something good for a change. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy. If I was out of work I doubt I'd be spending time on-line.

::pencils down Raytheon and Sanders for possible future employment::

Methuselah is the patriarch said to have lived 969 years.

thanks, shocratess. I thought I butchered the spelling.

OK, Scott, your car is hereby christened Methuselah.

So THAT's how you posted so often. :) Good luck with the job. Are you sure you're not my brother? He worked for Raytheon also, quit 3 years ago because of the pay, and they now want him back a a subcontractor paying him a lot more. If you make any thing comparable to what they were payin him, I'm sure you'll have a lot of extra money for SHO mods.

Just as I feared, scott get's himself employed again and I haven't seen him since. You out there scottie? You too good for us now. wink I'll bet he's down at the BMW dealer looking at a shiny new 330i (I would be).

Here we were, nice enough to bombard him with questions all day long for nigh on a year, just to give him something to do! thumbs_u That's gratitude for ya.

I guess this means scott's travelin' 60K road show is postponing it's new england tour for awhile.

Oh well, so who's next in line as official shoforum guru?

Oh, I'm still here. I have not had nearly the same opportunity to spend time in the Forum as I did before reporting back to work. My priority is taking care of my family. After that, I can spend time on my hobbies.

I do appreciate the kind words that have been written here. It does feel very good to be back on a payroll again, but I don't intend to ignore the associations I have developed here.

I don't think that my car fits under the Methuselah label. That's just not very affectionate for a partner that has been with me for so many miles and through so many events in my life. The first image that came to my mind was that of the similar sounding Medusa, the serpent headed woman. Not the image I want to associate with my shiny old girl. I'll have to think about a label other than "old girl" for my good buddy. Let me think about it some more.

Scott's been extremely helpful to all of us, particularly those of us who have a 1991 Oxford White MTX and don't have the resources to try all the various set-ups available.

A suggestion to The Moderators: take all of Scott's posts and put them in a separate category. This stuff is going to be useful for a long time to come.

LowSHO, wouldn't that be the same as archiving the whole forum.............

Scott, great to hear of the employment. Best of luck with the new work. Hope your daily commute is a blast in the '91!
