Angela, the only added potential repair issues with the turbo engines is rebuilding/replacing the turbos themselves. The Ford turbos are quite reliable and have been trouble-free for those people who change oil religiously and who use good oil (Motorcraft semi-synthetic or synthetic, or other high-quality oils). Unless your father still thinks of himself as a 25 year old race car driver, I would not worry about the 2.0 EcoBoost v. the 3.5 from a maintenance standpoint.

He should get the SHO just to avoid that cheesy fake wood limited trim.

Nope, maybe it was just for bragging rights, but the Mustang got the 3.7L, no 3.5L. At one time, they said it was not suitable for forced induction, but that has been proven to be a myth also :)

Angela -
A thousand apologies for being gender confused.

I still say kudos for stepping up and helping your dad. More of us need to do that.

Make him drive both, and buy what he likes better? Really, I have driven neither, and it isn't my money. Get what he likes. Really it sounds like a personal preference, and I doubt it is very hard to find one of each to test drive.
