A caliper would be the easiest and most accurate way. The other thing you can do is use a crescent wrench to gauge the space and then measure it with a ruler, tape measure, etc.; it won't be completely accurate, but should be close.

i remember some people tried measuring their swaybars and they didnt measure up to what they said they were. Not to sure about it though.

Chris, stop by on Wednesday, I have a metric caliper, and an SAE one, I'll measure my old ones, then compare to yours.
