here is my question. I have a VERY clean 95ATX. I am now in a position that I can afford to supercharge the car. But is it worth supercharging a automatic, or should I purchase or trade for a 5 speed sho? This is the 3rd sho I have owned, but the first auto. i was thinking about a 9psi kit???? Anyone have any ideas what kind of H.P. I can expect? I want to be around 400 at the flywheel if possible. I also know that the trans will have to be built. I am looking for a sleeper. :****:

It all depends on what you like " auto or manual ". They both will still be pretty pricey. I personally like the supercharger setup on the mtx. I am not so crazy on the atx supercharger kit with that long shaft and the carrier bearing.
If you are interested in auto x'ing your car a manual trans car will be more fun (again, my opinion).
and yes, you can get 400hp to the wheels with a supercharger.

First unwritten rule of the forum: always take heed to those who have BTDT (in this case - Tony, Murph, Josh, Lupo, etc). 
That said, though, I thought it pertinent to mention that, funds permitting, I plan to make use of an already-tested, already-proven shaft-driven blower setup on my (already prepared) ATX sometime next year. I'm still not exactly sure when this will happen; however, I will be sure to post a few juicy tidbits when it does.
With regard to your SHO specifically, shofear, Tony has posed some good questions:
- which drivetrain do you prefer, MTX or ATX?
- which drivetrain will better suit your needs?
- how much money are you willing to spend overall?
Both speed and power cost money. How much do you want to spend?

I think he don't like the bearings that could fail and potentially ruin the supercharger by throwing things out of balance.

The more I think about it, the more I want a 5 speed again. So I think I will put my auto up for sale or trade here in the next couple of days. I have been trying to get a hold of the sho shop for the past couple of days, with no luck. Anyone know where else in the southern california area I can Find someone to install a supercharger? Thanks again

Yeah, I know what your saying, but people still are scared. A $1500+ going up in bearings is a lot of money to go down the drain real quick. It'd take tons of parts all going at once on a SHO to make a $1500 repair bill.

Bearings are a common and easily replaceable item. Many supercharger setups on the market today use a shaft drive because they work very well and allow for much more convenient packaging of the supercharger.
If I was ever to do something like that to the Taurus, I would run a shaft drive. I am not a big fan of the way the sho shop kit is setup.

Most people are going to have sc kits installed by a shop, will not know what they consits of and never check on the bearings and then they will be shocked when a very bad thing happens.
Just delivered the latest blower car back to it's owner. '93 MTX, green with gray, loaded. Our original shaft drive blower system at 9psi, 42lb injectors, Lightning MAF, my SCT tuning, bone stock engine = 400hp.
Drove from Atlanta to Myrtle Beach, SC. Took 16gals exactly to go 384miles and averaged 60mph (with some spirited driving in the triple digits). Do the math.
