I already know about torque breaks trannies but I still want to know what FWD trans can handle 800 hp because if your making that kind of power the torque is not too far behind.

Factor in torque and load and you'll find your answer.

In these terms, horsepower is essentially meaningless.

I've given you the answers. There are plenty of light Honda's running 600-700hp on the stock transmission and axles. They make little torque in comparison and weigh nearly nothing when comparing to the pigs we generally deal with. You can run 1,000hp through a SHO motor with the wheels in the air. You figure the torque based on you means to get to the 1,000 mark.

It be a MUCH wiser choice to source a RWD car to fit a motor in than the time in money in a FWD transmission and have the nerve to tell me that I am full of it.

are we trying to be smart because we are talking about a car that comes in at almost 4k lbs from the factory with all the extra stuff stuff on it and a car thats twin turbo that makes give or take the same tq as hp

so if it makes you feel any better 800 + ft lbs or tq

and if it helps even more check out the guy on youtube with the 3000gt making 1348 awhp and check his torque to the ground on the dyno screen...

We're referencing transmissions in general for the most part. And no, we're not being 'smart'. We are being logical. Horsepower absolutely does NOT break transmissions.

i think everyone knows that much by now, but dont you relise how when people talk about how much power a car makes they always just refer to hp, since it would make sense a 3.0 liter v6 with turbos would make probley a shit ton of tq at 800hp i didnt see the point in saying the tq rating...

yamahaSHO you are a pretty smart guy and all but your probley smarter at being a ass...

just throwing that out there
