rag, big vise grips.. grab it up near the top where it dosent slide back into the "bore" or hole or whatever you wanna call it.. I had to on mine.. didnt ding it up.. its pretty hard steel.. just double or triple fold a rag ... I bit it, and then let the spring kinda hold it in place there. Get it snug then hit it with the impact... if not, add some heat..

Spend 10 bucks and take it to a shop that can take the nut off for you.. Ay suspension shop can do this in 5 mins or less.

Plus it helps to loosen the nut before you take the tension off of the spring. not all the way but close. the spring pulls the unit apart, tightening the strut cartridge.

just leave it installed on the car with the upper strut mount bolts tightened on, then it is easy to break the nut loose without the rod turning. Just break it loose though, and then take the strut out and remove the nut the rest of the way. Kroil is the best stuff for loosening rusty nuts and bolts

i don't think the access hole in the rear deck is big enough for the socket. i think i'm just gonna rip all 4 off and head to a shop. seems like that'll be the best option.

You can't access the nut on the top of the strut on the rear units. You have to pull them out and take them somewhere. I fought with these a few months ago and had to go find air tools.

I had the problem that I couldn't compress the springs enough to get the strut mounts on and the nut tightened. Ended up going to a local shop to have them assemble the struts, springs, mounts, etc. Definitely worth paying someone a few bucks to do.
