what are you asking?

there is a linkage upgrade for cable shifted 89 and 90 cars... and 91s without the rod shifter... all cars past 91 got rod shifters...

the difference being that the early cars were given cable shifters which many people upgrade to the rod shifter since it is tighter and more precise... the cables are known to stretch out and makes shifts sloppy as they wear out

Pretty simple to see if it's the shift cables or not. Get under the car and check the cable ends. You will see a ball and socket setup. Make sure that both cable ends are snapped onto the balls on the trans shift linkage.:thumb: If one of the cable ends has come off, a couple of plastic zip ties will keep them in check.

If the cables are in tact, you may have internal transmission problems.
Good luck, and get back to us.

There is also a "Reverse Lockout Pawl Pivot Pin" that's part of the shift selector plate inside the tranny. Maybe it's jammed.

The neutral interlock bolt may have been removed to drain the transaxle and the shifter may have been moved before it was reinstalled. Search on this bolt and possible corrections without having to remove and disassemble the transaxle.
