Hello, i am in the process of replacing my rear struts and figure since i am doing that i may as well replace the strut rod bushings. My question is, do i have to take the nuckle off to remove the strut rod? I want to try to avoid that. I have bolts removed on both ends of the rod but it doesnt move enough to come out..:braincramp:

It takes a lot of force to pop the rod out. I was able to pop them out while someone else took the entire knuckle and strut assembly and pulled it to the rear of the car.

Just find a big friend and have him pry it while you jimmy the strut rod out.

the rods tend to rust, effectively gluing the rod into the bushings. I have always had to tear the bushings into pieces to get the rods out. it is a huge pita.

It also helps to have the endlink removed from the strut and have the three strut mount nuts loosened from the frame to give the strut more movement.

Shouldn't be a problem if you are replacing the strut anyway.

Thanks guys!, yeah i was going to try to pull on the knuckle assembly to get it too pop out but i was afraid of damaging something pulling in the suspension like that. Guess im not strong enough to do damage!..:)

If you remove the strut...and the strut rod...how can you avoid removing the knuckle? At this point, it's removed.
