I ordered front and rear strut mounts for a total of around 165 the other day of rockauto.

Is that all I need or more? I read something about some type of bearing too? Which was another 160 or so?

I have struts coming and I plan on getting springs.

Let me know guys

For the front mounts, what are the part numbers? Some of the front mounts come with bearings, others must be ordered separately.

The K8630 is a front mount/bearing set Bearings are included. So you do not need to order bearings.

You should be good to go :thumb:

I doubt it.

Im still running the factory bellows on my 16 year old, 130k mile 1989.

I dont see how they could "die" other than getting shreaded during install/disassembly. They are plastic, it isnt like they are going to rot.

Good point, but if your going to put new mounts, struts and springs toghether, why bother dissassembling you old setup. I'd put on new boots and be done with it, IMO.

Not everybody replaces the coils every time ;)

And money is money. Id rather not spend money on dust boots that dont need replacing.

my Monroe strut mount with bearing was $28.99 at Advance Auto.

So it comes with the bearing as well for that price? I just ordered it from their website but the way its worded doesnt make it clear or not if the bearing is included for that price.

The mount should be all you need. Its a one piece unit.

If you can, use two strut spring compressor tools, one on each side of the spring (4 sides). This is the safest way I think.

My order from rock auto came in. Once I get the springs ordered I will try to find two quality spring compressors some place and get those.

Anything else?

What about these boots? Dust boots.

I found the moog springs on rockauto.com after finding the part numbers on shotimes!

120ish for all 4 corners shipped. Not bad I don't think.

They don't list the springs for the SHO but if you get the part numbers CC858 and CC859 I think and run a search for them they show up. Go figure.

So they should be here soon, end of the week I bet.

I don't. Would you like pics? All four of mine were shredded, and my car was 'only' 10 years old...

Replace the bumpers and bellows. Especially if you are lowering the car.

Its on top of the spring. It has the studs that stick through the body for you to bolt the assembly to the body. The bearing is in the center where the rod of the strut comes through. You need a coil spring compressor to remove it. It all part of servicing the struts. You check that stuff while there. BTW, Harbor Freight has coil spring compresors for ~$12, for you folks who have a store near them. You'll pay that much for shipping if you dont... I picked up a set a couple of weeks ago just to have.
