Well, yet another thread started by me regaurding my suspension "re-build"...
I need to know what is a good company that makes strut mount kits that would compliment my tokicos nicely. Preferably the kit contains everything that I need, strut mount and all bearings and bushings that are needed. And if there are any good kits where can I find them??? I found a MOOG kit that allows -1 1/4 to +1 1/4 deg. of adjustment, Is that any good?? Im like clueless as to what is and what makes a good strut mount as I am pretty new to suspension.

Also when I install the new strut mount are the holes only as big as the bolts for the strut mount or are they slotted to allow adjustment of the top of the strut?? And how hard is it to remove the struts and springs on this car?? Like maybe 1 to 1 1/2 hour per wheel??

Thanks for all the help so far guys!!!

I don't know this myself, but I have read that some aftermarket mounts have shorter mounting studs on them which can be a hassle if you want to add a STB. I elected to stick with the OEM units which I got from SHONUT.

The mounting holes are not slotted.

I recently changed out the springs and struts on my SHO, it's a pretty straightforward job as long as you don't snap any pinch bolts. As always, how long it takes will depend on how fast you work and how experienced you are, assuming you have all the tools (spring compressor, etc.) and parts you need on hand

Keep in mind that the little "jounce bumpers" on the original struts may be shot and need to be replaced, even if the boots look fine. And that's another thing, the boots on my rear struts looked OK (I re-used the fronts which were in good shape) but once I got the rear struts off the car I could see that both the boots and bumpers were wasted. Picked up some new boots and bumpers from Napa.

So 89 struts mounts are discontinued now? Have any idea what I could do about that?

The replacement procedure is fairly simple and straight foreward. There should be a writeup on the faq section of the shotimes.com website.
Go with Ford factory mounts if you are planning on adding a strut tower brace at some point as the factory studs are a bit longer than aftermarket. If that's not a concern then any aftermartket mounts should be fine.

The MOOG mounts and bearings are excellent replacements. I personally have the Ford Police mounts on all four corners, they are great. However, they are not available anymore....

What would be the best gas and oil to use in my car?

I dont know what you mean by that, but it sounds sarcastic and kinda mean.. If you are truly serious, I like 5w-30 castrol syntec and the SHO likes 91 octane :p I assume you are kidding tho...

But thanks for all the help from you other guys, I guess I will get some OEM ones like the monroe strut mounts that are OEM replacements, they are affordable and they are in stock at murrays.

And yes, ive got a nice craftsman spring compressor that I got for x-mas :) and a HUGE tool box fulll of craftsman tools that cost me quite a bit, the tool box alone was over 250 bucks and well, the tools were..well, costly :(
