strut mount test?

is there a way to test if my rattle is coming form the strut mount/bearing? will the strut be loose or will there be play somewhere?

I'll check that but they are talking about a rattle in the rear. my rattle I think is coming from front struts. I'll try that test in the front. thanks.

I did the test. my backs were tight. I think the fronts were tight also but while I was bouncing car up and down, I hear the clunk. had my son bouce car while I looked around. found out it was front end link. the right one was monving all around while bouncing car. it's the metal link. what goes wrong with these links? guess I'll buy 2 new front links. should I go with moog or go with stock? plastic or metal? what's a good price for the pair?

Don't go with the "updated" 94 plastic pieces. Go with the metal. Moog makes a great part. I don't recall the number offhand, but a set can be had for around $50 tops I want to say.

Or buy the housebrand, Autodrive, for almost half the price and get a re-packaged Moog in a plain box. Same part number.

Of course, this doesn't help someone in NY since O'Reilly's is regionally located in the mid-west and mid-south.

I don't think anyone would recommend taking them out, but you'll be fine. You'll get the "dog-walk" effect at low speeds. My driver's side end link was off since my tranny rebuild 6 months ago. I just finally got around to installing a new one this past weekend. It was the metal replacement kind, Monroe brand, from AdvanceAuto. Around $25 if I can recall correctly.

I just took my end links out today. the right lower joint was blown out. the other side was not in the best shape also. this was the rattle. in the spring, I'm going to try and do the struts myself.

Depending on weather or not you have power tools, an extra set of hands to help out would be great when doing the struts. I just did mine last weekend, and fun is not a word to associate with the process. The whole deal took us about 5 hours with the usual sockets, wrenches, pipes, ect. This isn't counting going down to Goodyear to get the springd decompressed and recompressed onto the new KYBs. But having installed the new struts, new wheel bearing, new tie rod ending, and new end link, the SHO is even more of a dream to drive Good luck!

sad thing is, after I do my struts (originals with 183K on them), I have to do mom's 93 SHO struts.
