i recently posted about my sho smoking and burning oil, i had the valve seals replaced, and it's still smoking, i also had them check compression and all cylinders were between 150 and 170psi, my car has 165xxx miles on it, i don't really know what to do with it now. Its not smoking as bad, but still smoking, and occasionally the check engine light comes on and the smoking seems to get worse, does anyone have any suggestions about what to do?..or what it could be or where i can get a decent motor for a decent price. any help would be appreciated.

or does anybody know where there are any sho-specific shops around the bingamton area?
So right now it doesn't burn oil but it still smokes? Not out of the exhaust tips?

its still smokin out through the exhaust tips, i've burned like a tenth of a qt, or so.. in about 250 miles since i changed the oil, i tried cleaning the intake out to see if it'd help with the smoking, but it hasn't really.

Well, you might still have residue in your exhaust system. 1 tenth in 250 miles is not very much by any means. You said it smoke more when your check engine light is on. Please check your codes and are you sure that the smoke your seeing now is blue?

It is unlikely that the smoking and the CEL are related.

Pull the codes to see what the CEL is complaining about.

Post the conditions under which you see blue smoke from your exhaust pipes.

the smoke does have a blueish tint to it, it may be some residue but i'm not sure i'm gonna give it another week or two and see what happens, if it's still smoking i'm gonna try to find a motor or a newer sho, it mostly smokes on startup for a few seconds, so i'm not sure about that either, i'm not really familiar with the car yet, so i dont know how to check codes.. maybe you could fill me in on that. thanks

smokes on startup and higher rpms, usually over 3500 or so..also check engine light only comes on periodically, and goes back out most of the time, but if i shut the car off and start it back up it stays off for awhile again

i recently bought the car, it has xact plug wires and i think there autolite plugs, i don't really think that it would have anything to do with it other than maybe the plugs are fouling out. not sure though.. just looking for suggestions

Well the only thing that can cause the smoke on start up is the valve seals...if those were replaced the should have checked the valves themselves. If grooves were worn into them then the new valve seals will not help very much of that long for that matter.

You are singing my song. I have a 90 mtx sho with 149,*** miles. It seems to run good considering the miles. It does leak and burn oil. (About a quart every 600-700 miles.) I got on it the other day in front of my buddy with a Mustang SVT. 1st gear up to 6000 rpms (which I don't normally do) He said I bathed him in white smoke (maybe a little bluish mixed in?) I assume it only does it a high rpms after secondaries have opened up. I have never personally seen it smoke. It seems to run fine though.
Just wanted to let you know you are not alone wink

P.S. Oh yeah, I had a compression test done and each one checked out at 176 psi (+ or - 2).
And the check engine light will come on about once a month (if that) It will stay lit for a minute, then go off. Then come back and flicker a time or two. After I reach my destination and shut the car off, it will stay off.
