steering squeaking

hey everyone. when i move the steering wheel hard either way i get a squeaking noise. it happens when the cars moving and when its parked. its not whineing or grinding. just squeaking like something needs to be greased. any ideas?

Probably the strut bearings/upper mounts. They are a plastic and ball-bearing assembly at the top of the strut towers (underneath the plate there). You need to pull the struts out to get to them. SHONut has a nice write up on options you have. When mine went it sounded like a horrible rubber on metal sqeuaking.

My tie rod squeaked like no tomorrow. You can easily find out by putting grease on the tie rod stud where it goes in the knuckle. This will only last a day if it's as bad as mine was! :nut:
