Parked the car on Friday, drove with no issues. Started the car on Sunday and the steering is tight, almost feels like no power steering. There are no faults displayed and no codes when I scan the OBD port.

I read another post on a binding lower shaft, any thoughts or input are greatly appreciated.

Sounds like your power steering is going out. Mine started that way but I would get a power steering fault on the dash. Shut the car off, crank again, and it's back. The car drives fine. 18 months later, it happened again. Same thing - shut it off, crank, and it drives fine. This time it happens every few days until eventually, that trick stops working and it requires a new power steering.

Power steering on this car is electric, not hydraulic. It can come and go. Pay close attention to the dash if/when it happens again.

Thanks for the reply. I was kinda thinking the same thing but not having a fault message or code is really not adding up.

What scan tool did you use? A generic OBD tool will only read PCM codes. A high level tool or FORScan will read all modules.

Just a basic generic OBDII scanner, all that was available at the moment.

Finally got around to using my scanner, health report scan displayed a IPC (Instrument Panel Control Module) Fault with U0131:00-8A Lost Communication With Power Steering Control Module A

Still have no CEL lights, no error messages on the dash. The steering is extremely tight, almost as if there is no power steering at all. Any other ideas besides a complete steering rack replacement? Just want to make sure that is the root cause.
