My name is Jason and I live in northern NY about 60 miles from the Canadian border. My previous toy was a 2011 Mustang GT that I ordered new and built up the chassis and suspension, and then ProCharged. It dynoed at about 620 to the wheels but realistically was probably closer to 550, and could dip into the high 11's in the 1/4 mile if I drove it right. I always enjoyed working on the car and eventually enjoyed the wrenching on it just as much as driving it. Three years ago it got to the point that the next logical mod (transmission bulletproof) was way over my head, and a significant amount of money, so that combined with a third little one on the way, lead me to trade the car for a nice crew cab F150. Well it didn't take long for the itch to come back, especially with the older to kids talking about missing going to the local cruise-ins, so I started looking for a Taurus SHO so I could have fun both with my family and on my own. A couple months ago I found a 2012 SHO with 70,000 miles and have been having a lot of fun with it so far. I'm calling it my "mid-life acceptance" car as I've accepted that at my age my fun needs to include my family, at least some of the time, lol. Hence the new chapter . . .

Thanks everyone, I am having fun with so far. It's just too bad it'll be put away for the winter shortly, but I love where I live so it's worth it.20210919 15494120210919 15494120210919 15495420210919 15500720210919 155024

Nice car. Someone already blacked out some of the chrome?
Yeah, guilty as charged, lol. Not a chrome fan so all the chrome magically changed into satin black. Looking to change the wheels as well, on the fence between cleaning up and painting the stockers gray or picking up a set of gray Mustang 18s. Painting would be cheaper but the previous owner wasn't aware/afraid of curbs so a couple of the wheels are gouged pretty bad so I'm leaning towards the Mustang wheels as I found a gray five-spoke that came on the 15+ GTs that would look great on it, not to mention buying 18" tires is alot easier on the wallet than 20" tires.

Not a fan of too much chrome on newer cars. Classic cars with real chrome..heck yeah. Looks much better. Vinyl, paint??

I'll try to get a better picture, there is metal flakes in them so they pop in the sun.

I'm over chrome completely, haha. I had chrome torque thrusts on a Trans Am years ago and liked it, but that was the last time I had chrome on anything in the stable. Paint, probably a combined 3 hours of masking for 15 minutes of spray time, lol.

Yeah , that's the color I want to end up with, I'm just not sure if it's worth the work painting the stockers with how gouged a couple of the wheels are.

Welcome to the group! I followed a similar lifestyle, I had Mustangs exclusively from 2007 to 2017, culminating in a wife-hating 2011 Mustang GT that ran mid 11s with 430 hp that you couldn't fit a car seat AND a wife in comfortably. I held off as long as I could until a wreck in the rain on drag radials ended her for me. Decided to take the dad leap and got a SHO to keep fueling my passion but still comfortably haul our family of 4 and sports equipment.

Let me know when you're ready to go on modifications, we have a plethora of performance parts and tuning options on our website and offer Forum members a discount :)

Yup, similar roads. The car actually came with a tuner/custom tunes from Unleashed, colder plugs, and a 2.5 bar MAP but I had the the previous owner flash it to stock before taking delivery and just haven't had the time to play around with it yet. I'll definitely keep that in mind though as I would like to delete the noisemaker eventually, install exhaust cut-outs, and maybe even put on a Zex safe shot system pre-intercooler to lowers IATs.
