A while back I posted something about I thought my tie rods were bad. Well, they are fine, but I did find where the noise was coming from. It is the insulators on the stabilizer bar links. They are rubber and have cracked due to old age. So I went down to the Ford dealer to see if I could just get the insulators. Nope. I had to buy the stabilizer links just to get the insulators. The total cost was something like 110. I thought about looking around a junk yard for just the insulators. Does the regular taurus have the same setup as far as the stabilizer bar and the links? And is there anywhere else that might have these parts? Thanks for any info.

Your best bet is to take those 110.00 parts back to Ford and tell them to keep them. You can get end links which include the bushing your talking about at Advance auto, Murrays or most other auto parts stores. TRW I believe is the brand of them. Unless you're looking for high performance ones these are fine. They are made of a very durable plastic and are white in color. Installation is a snap (if you can get the bolts off). Cost...about 24.00 each.

Ford is generally a big rip off when it comes to parts. If you can't find a part at the auto part store, check vendors on the forum. If they can't get it they can tell you where you can.

As for getting those parts out of a junk yard...I wouldn't. Some parts yes, but there's no need in getting parts that already have wear on them and are quite possibly damaged...after all the car is in a bone yard. With as cheap as you can get them at Advance you'd be better off in the long run buying them new.

Hope this helps.
