I have some reservations on whether or not I want to put the smoked STS headlight covers and ENZO's smoked LED taillights on my Silver 92' ..

I've read mixed feelings on the-blacked out version of the taillights but I want to give the car a modern update....

I haven't seen a pic of a silver gen2 with the headlight covers and being as silver is hit and miss when it comes to having too much or too little black I'd like to see what it looks like before I draw conclusions....

I would love to see some pictures if any one is running the Covers/taillights on their silver Gen2 but opinions are just fine, I need a broad spectrum of thoughts on this.

Here is a link to my facebook album of the car..

I want to keep it looking mean.... :)

Thanks,
Josh

tailight covers, I got pulled over 2 times with those at night and one time, in the afternoon, when the sun was very bright, i had a friend following me and he couldn't see anything(turn signals, barely brake lights).
taillight covers are good for shows etc. As for headlight covers, i have them on my car right now and they look very nice and since i have Xenon lights in headlight and fog lights, i see fine. If you put 50watt bi-xenon kit in your headlights, everything will be fine even at night. Or you can simply take them off at night.

It seems apparent to me that the smoked lenses are not an option for me. I have to have my lights very clear as when I turn onto my road I have to come to a nearly dead stop in the right lane of a major highway, it's essential that people can see me signaling from at least a 1/4 mile away...

I do want the regular LED taillights though..

I'm going to stay away from the covers, though.

Perhaps when I fabricate some HID projector headlights I'll fill the unused housing and paint it black...

thanks for the honest input!

I put 3 coats of nightshades on my taillights and the light output was barely effected at night. day time was a little harder to see but still visible.

Could you possibly dig up a picture for me?

And is that the same technique you used for the headlamps in your signature picture?

Thanks,
Josh

@Vortex what part of NC you from? I seem to remember your car and talking to a guy a several years ago in Belmont, NC with a car exactly like that. As for the headlight covers, these cars have crap lighting from the factory, it'll just get worse with covers. They look nice but seeing is so much better.

I'm in Holly Ridge which is basically halfway between Wilmington and Jacksonville on US 17..

I bought the car a little more than a month ago from forum user "stangeater" who is from Illinois . The title indicates he bought the car in 2007. But I know he's done a lot of appearance changing work to it.

But that's just coincidence?

And I agree that the factory lighting is sub par at best. Even my dad's 93' Dodge van lights the road up 10x better than my SHO...

I plan on doing a full HID bi-xenon conversion with projectors by the end of summer. So maybe I'll refrain from going forward with any tinting/covers now but I still want to get a good idea of what it'll look like..

thanks,
Josh

With LED tails it is a different story. I have one cover still, I'll try to put it on my car sometime next week and see how does that effect anything. As for front turn signals and covers, you can see everything the same way on the car. People will see your turn signals like before. Tinting tails would probably be the best choice.

If you do that and let me know you would be the man!! I'm definitely wanting to tint my tails once I get the LED tails. I'll buy a van of VHT for now and test it on the head/tail lights on my ATX...

My battery is out of the car for now. It's in my other SHO, that actually has tinted tails and they are not LED and it is fine. On LED tails any tint will look nice without any effect to others. I'll try those covers to see how are LED tails with them on. As for tinting headlights, I've tried that and wouldn't use anything but vinyl of covers. vinyl is not too dark and covers you can take off anytime you need.

I did about four coats of VHT Niteshades on my taillights, and they look nice and dark, and light up reasonably well. I've seen some cars rolling around with what I think were covers, and you could barely see their taillights.
