I stomped on the sho the other day, and my buddy behind me infomed me that a lot of smoke poured out of my exhaust (mostly white, maybe a little black?) Keep in mind it has 148,*** miles. I believe it only smoked when I was in high rpm's (5-6k). Im not sure if it does it EVERY time I get on it?? Performance wise, it seems pretty normal (I guess) No noticeable problems. (outside of an occasional ticking sound from the engine- from inside the car it sounds like a baseball card against the spokes of a bicycle wheel)
Coolant level stays consistent.
I do have an oil leak from the front crank seal.
No oil in the plug wells (as of 4 mos. ago when it was checked).
Is this a potential serious problem... or not unusual considering the miles?
I've missed this board!!

White smoke is generally coolant or water vapor. Have you noticed any slow/rapid loss of coolant. If so not good news.

And also I've noticed that if you go a while without the secondarys opening, residue and moisture accumulate in the secondarys so once there opened you'll get a puff for the first time then its ok again.

dkautumna.......welcome to my world. i don't get it. i don't get the white smoke all the time. I guess it's just moisture. Seems to do it only at certain temperatures. Weird.

dkautumna, the same thing happens to my '90. It's my wife's car, and with kids in tow, it rarely sees WOT. Then, every so often when I drive it, I blow lots of smoke for a few seconds, and then it's fine. Having maintained it myself, I know the motor is good, so I don't really worry about it.

I have never actually seen the smoke through my rear view mirror... my friend driving behind me said a huge puff of smoke poured out when I was at high rpms. So I dont know the extent and the amount of smoke it may give off. Thanks for the input.
