I recently put slicers on my car and got a good deal on some new tires (bridestone potenza's) 215/65/16. Here is my problem when on a lil trip last night i noticed some tire smell. Turns out when the tires get up to temp they rub on my struts. No damage to tires yet but don't want to destroy new tires. I am planning on upgrading struts and springs soon (hopefully) but i don't know if this will help or not. I am rubbing on the support where the spring sits. Is it possible to raise the strut 1/2" to get the clearance or will new struts and springs work? Normally i would just take the tires back but i bought off the supplier (no refunds).

When driving locally (work, store, misc) no rubbing. Highway Rubbing.
Any advice would be apreciated.

The tires are too tall. The correct size is 215/60/16 or 225/55/16 if you want a wider tire.

New struts and springs probably wouldn't cure the problem. You could raise the strut in the knuckle to get some more clearance, but you will have to modify the locating tab on the strut.

Yea i agree. Id get some 225-55's like Kdawg mentioned. That is my favorite tire size for slicers.

Will the 225-55 rub on the side? I don't have the garage for any fender mods. (or the tools)

If you are running slicers then the 225 55 will be perfect. Ive ran that size on my 93 and my 89 i had. The 91 im buying also has that tire size. Its wider and suits the look of the sho better but still provides a nice ride and wont hit anything.

225/55's are great on Slicers. It's what I'm running on my '89 right now. It's probaby the most popular size on slicers.
