The reason i like the SHO is because i dont drag my car.. And i sure as shit don't street race anymore (unless you count the typical light racing when teh lane ends 500 feet away! :) ).... so its a prefect car for me.. Im going to get the power i want with it, and just drive it and have a fun and quick car to play with.. Ill track it but thats about the extent of my "racing" ill do.. If i want to build a high HP drag monster, you can sure as S**T bet its going to have a tube in the rear end with some gears in it! ;)

why does the comparison of LT1/LS1 vs SHO come up so much.
These are two different cars/engine/drivetrain setups.
The RWD LT1/LS1 is designed to run from a dig and cut ideal 60ft. times and good 1/4 times and trap speeds. They even take mods better and have a better selection of mods than any gen. SHO. Look at the torque specs. 330 @ 3xxx > 200 @ 4800
I own a 92 and although its pretty quick for what it is theres no way its touching any modern V8 RWD performance car from a roll and especially a dig.
**** it doesnt even have a top speed as fast as the LS1.
I love my car and take meticulous car of it but to me its more of a car to go through the twisties(with brake and suspension mods) not a torque monster made to drag race.
Just my opinion

Because, it's fun to compare. Believe it or not, I've started to pull on a few LT1's with my SHO and the look on their face is priceless! Granted, they might have not been running well, but still.

When I had my modded SRT4, I used to slap around Mustang GT's and LT1's left and right. Stock LS1's weren't a problem either. The best was a S/C'd Rousch Speedster that I destroyed!!

Nobody expected that from my Neon and nobody expects or sees the SHO coming either.

its just two different classes of cars is all im saying. they were built for different purposes.
back when the gen 1 & 2 SHO came out most sports cars couldnt touch it V8 RWD or not but nowadays its a different ballgame.
Thats why the 2010 SHO is never pit against the vette, GTR or any other sportier car because its not in the same class and wasnt built to drive the same way. The SHO is put up against other cars in the same class like the audi A6 and 300C and kicks their ass. For the first 2 gen. SHOs there were no other sedans back then that could perform like it except the 535 Bimmer and even then the SHO outperformed it

Oh well, this thread has seen some SERIOUS back from the dead action here! lol..

A heavily modded NA SHO will run with a LT1 F-body considering a few circumstances. First, a crappy driver behind the wheel of a (preferably) 6spd car. Secondly, an AMAZING driver behind the wheel of the SHO. My old SHO ran down an AT LT1 z28, but the guy behind the wheel was a pedal masher with a car that probably needed a optispark along with a plethora of other maintenance work.

Racing on the street is not all clean cut and precise as a drag strip. Every other road is a different pavement, different angled road crown, different amount of bumps/uneven surfaces to break your wheels loose on in the different lanes. Street racing is the SHOs only leverage against the likes of M3s, Z28s, STS', GXPs, etc.. If you can't handle the truth, buy something faster. SHO's are not FAST. they're barely quick nowadays.

The problem is that very few cars are as raw and thrilling to cruise in such stealth. I've noticed a lot of faster cars nowadays are AFRAID of my pretty much TOTALLY stock '92. I'm serious! I'm beginning to wonder how much of an impact those Gen 4 figures have had on these people around here. Lord knows they'd mop the street with my car. Then again, they're are few and far between that'll get as ape-**** on the road to prove a point as I would.

God, I love being craz.. wait, I don't know that I am. :)

The quickest eclipse I think was a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. 5.8 14.4

No reason why a SHO with exhaust and K&N can't beat any of them eclipse or talons.

Last I remember my old SHO bone stock burning oil kept up side by side with the guy at 12psi of boost. Today would be a different story though after dumping $3000 into my car

yeah i dont think he ever got it to the strip... he twin turboed it tho... then lifted the front wheel and broke a steering linkage and flip and rolled and now the car is totaled.

Im not going to talk about what my Gen 1 does to my buddies AT LT1 Z28 and its even a fresh built 355 with full exhaust and a nice new 4l60E, fact of the matter is the LT-1 is a turd of an engine for what it is. He also thought a 70 roll would be better for him :snicker:

the LT1 is pretty fast actually............

if ur sho is beating a lt1 camaro regularily, and your car is stock or close to it, then his camaro runs like dog ****.

u might hang with some tpi stuff, depends on a few factors

but the only LT1 a SHO should beat stock for stock, or bolt on SHO vs stock v8's is the Impala/Caprice/Roadmaster

even my brothers Impala SS would run 13's with I/H/E and gears. Mind you that car comes from the factory with 40-50 horsepower less then the F-bodies and it also weighs a thousand pounds more....... how is a SHO going to beat a LT1 F body again?

how many N/A SHO's have run 13's here?

have any?
