SHO Overhead Console

Howdy All! This is my first time in here and its great to see a forums dedicated to the absolutely amazing Ford Taurus SHO! I myself have a 1993 with the 3.2L DOHC engine, and a 5-speed tranny. I just purchased it about 3 weeks ago. It was garaged its whole life and even tho it has 170,000 miles, the only flaws in the paint are rock chips in the front. It is truly beautiful.

I do have a question tho. I currently need a new overhead console. This houses the front "dome" lights and the sunroof switch. I am having a hard time finding one online and what I find at Ford is almost $200 just for the console itself. (doesn't include the switch or lights). Does anyone out there by chance have one available or know where to point me to find one? I'm in rural Nebraska and there are none of these sitting in the junk yards.

first, i dont have a overhead console, but what i wanted to comment was that are you sure it is a 3.2 cuz if it is that is not the original motor, it is one of an auto and swapped to you 5 spd

Hmmm...I guess I dont know for sure! I will check again! I owned a 1993 Red SHO a few years ago with the Automatic and it was the 3.2L. This engine looked exactly the same, but maybe they do. I will update this when I find out! Just an assumption on my part. Thanks for pointing this out Mike!

The 3.0 And the 3.2's look exactly the same, Minus a few MINOR things, that I could not name off the top of my head. Generally, 5speed are 3.0's. Somone else should chime in soon and tell you what to look for, Take it easy!

Does it have 1 serpentine belt or 2? (1=3.2 ATX, 2=3.0 MTX)

lol guys, you're making this way more complicated than it is. I think its pretty obvious this guys car is stock, so jweeda your car has a 3.0. The 3.2 is the same its just slightly bored out for more torque in the automatics. Anyways, there's always a few people parting out SHO's on this board, there's even a special section for it. Take a look in there, someone might have what you're looking for.

=) Yeah Sho...you are right! I went out on my break and looked and it is in fact a 3.0L. I just made the assumption it was a 3.2L because I'd never seen the 3.0L and it looked the same to me! I did find the 3.0L sticker!

Also, I guess I thought I was in the right place for parts! I will search a little farther!

I always see those overhead consoles on ebay all the time, but they go for about $50. So you could probably get one cheaper from somebody on the forum here parting out a car.

Thanks for contacting me. I actually have the gray interior, but black would look awesome in there. It would kind of add a "trimmed out" look to it. One thing I noticed on mine is that the console had been taken off and the clips were broke. I am not sure how it comes off, but I might just say to be cautious cause they might break pretty easy.

Let me know what you want for one of them. I definitely want to work a deal out.
