I got my newer 1992 mtx and the stick on it is quite frankly ******.You cannot feel what gear your in but I know what gear im in and if the rod moves slightly then you lose the position of where you are in.I'm trying to find out what SHO related company offers a good quality short throw shifter that bolts on to the stock shifter area.I don't want to spend exorbent amounts of money but something that is cost effective and can get me feeling the gears.Thanks for the imput.-Alaric

the loose might come from multiple places.

look for the joint where the rod is connecting to the transmission. have someone inside play with the stick (hope its your wife) and see if you can locate the loose.
