Red Rocket Rat Revival finishes 2nd in N.O. Lemon's race didn't help they got a 10 lap penalty for winning the last race. It also rained all weekend on them it seems. Way to go guys.

Next Lemon's race here in Texas in June there will be 5 SHOs entered.

Yea, I just saw this. Congrats! I can't believe a Karmann Ghia won IOE and there were only 33 cars entered? That's a pretty light track. I though 53 cars @ Detroit Irony was pretty light compared to their recent west coast races, but I guess not. I also heard there were a lot of E30's (even more than normal) and I thought all E30's now get automatic BS laps because they win so much, and yet an E30 won again (2nd time for that team too)?

The N.O. track eats tires the DFW team didn't go for this reason. I'm thinking that maybe the reason for the low turn out too.

BTW, did you get involved in any drag races like some of the other teams?

I didn't go but Sergio told me he did and he won all his drag races. He said he didn't do any thing fancy like rev up the rpms to launch, or do a burn out, he just put it in 1st and hit the gas.

LeMons: The only place where the SHO is a shoo-in at the drags.

We got a 2 lap penalty for winning the last race by 2 laps.

Started Sat. with cloudy skies, 8 hours of racing later we were in 3rd down 10 laps I think. We had a couple of mistakes, a gas stop which we weren't ready for, so Jay had to go back out til we got ready. How stupid is that? Then with 2.5 hours to go Sat. we needed tires. Left front had half the tread gone, from the outside edge to the middle. The steel belts were showing pretty much all the way around. I heard the tread come off, it slapped the fender for about 50 ft. then came off. At least the air stayed in it. Every minute and a half off track we were loosing a lap. The leader, the 145 Integra broke a transmission. They were running 1:29 laps, impossible to keep up with. Our best was 1:31. That put the Celica, last years winner in the lead.

Saturday night a bunch of LeMons cars were going to drag race, so we went too. I raced a 5.0 Thunderbird 4 times, his engine was not running on all cylinders. His best was 17.0@79mph so that shows that it was a sick motor. Then I raced once with a 944, 16.8@79 was his time. Couldn't have been running right either. My best was 15.5@92. That was just rolling into the gas, no clutch drop or other drag racing B.S. The leader broke an axle at the drags. That was it for them. The winning BMW posted a 14.8 time.

Sunday we wake up to the sound of rain. Martin drove first and slowly we start unlapping ourselves. I drive next and the rain lets off, we are 5 laps down. Then it starts to rain again, the hardest of the day. Jay drives to the finish, 3 laps down.

Oh well. Second is good, at least we shouldn't get any penalty laps at the Dallas race. And we are leading the LeMons Gulf Region Championship by 13 points, if my information is right. 3 races to go in the Gulf region, Dallas June 5, Houston Sept 11, New Orleans Nov 20. The winner gets a free entry to the last race in Miami on Dec.30, a real 24 hour race.
