I got to sit in a 2016 Taurus (Chinese version) at the Chengdu auto show this weekend. I figured I'd put up a few comments on it since it's quite a bit different from the US version. In fact, this car seems to just be a Ford Mondeo-LWB model.

The rear seats are amazing. Plenty of legroom, ok headroom, and some comfortable seats. The rear seats are two bucket (no middle seat) with a huge control console like what you'd get in an S class or 750iL. It felt very premium and while not as nice as a MB or BMW, it would be a very comfortable place to ride in for a few hours if you had someone to drive you around. The front.....is another story. The front roofline seems sloped more than the Mondeo/Fusion. It's not awful but not any better than a Focus. It's harder to see out of because the body comes up around you more than a Focus, and the simple fact I'm comparing a Taurus to Focus is bad news bears. Overall though I think it's actually kind of an interesting concept for a business car. If you're taking some clients out for dinner or whatever, might as well give them a nice cushy backseat. If the car is still handling pretty well, that means at least its still fun when you have it on your own.
I sat in quite a few other cars this weekend as me and my girlfriend are planning on buying one soon. The Taurus is ok but has some stiff competition. I haven't driven one so it's hard to say. If it drives as well as the Fusion/Mondeo, then it's probably going to be ok, but it all depends on how the new Geely GC9 drives. That car was almost as nice and more comfortable up front. I would also say it was better looking.
I also got a chance to check out the Jaguar XF-L.....insane amounts of rear seat room but overall i felt it was kind of ugly and bland compared to the normal XF. The DS5 (the funky wagon spun off from Citroen) - wow, drivers seat feels like a space ship. Give me that front seat in a RCZ and I'd be in heaven.
