Now you tell us !

There's been several silver Gen III's at Pick-n-Pull. I believe Dave (Inkertinker) pulled his motor from a silver Gen III at Taylors last fall.

:bump: for new management

With the current "spring's around the corner" flurry of SHO stuff going on, I thought it time to begin maintaining this thread again. Lot's of work to do before June - and I will travel to other yards IF I know there are SHOs there . . . .

Anyone with updates for Taylor's or Greedyway ? SHOs at the Fenton yard ?

Sticky anyone?

I hope you didn't mess yourself . . . .

:laugh_ti:

Well, the thread is just as valid as before when there was no moderation (ie. no one to sticky it) - hence why I bumped and updated it with the recent changes.

The point was to have a thread where everyone posted what SHOs were in the various STL yards, to which I would append to the original post. Thus you could enter the thread at any time, and quickly find out what SHOs were where, instead of wasting half a day driving around between them. But if no one is going to contribute (as it now seems), there's no point in me spending the time . . . .

The one yard I would like to know more about, is the Fenton yard. I've heard several refer to it, but never any information about how large the yard is. My nderstanding is that it has the more typical turn-over rate (ie. they crush their cars when they're picked), thus cars are likely to survive much longer there. And then there are the other large salvage yards north and west of St. Louis, that people apparently don't visit. I've heard there is a large salvage yard west of the St. Charles/St. Peters area.

I'm guessing that last comment was meant for me, Keith.

I dont have the time to go out there, and you know that. So at this point inventory is not going to happen anytime soon. Wish I could, but no time.

It was actually meant for everyone else. I know where you go . . . Riverside, Pick-n-Pull, and Speedway, usually in that order. Dave generally goes to Taylor's, Pick-n-Pull, and Riverside. Goalieman goes to Speedway. Beyond that, I don't have a clue. I was hoping someone else might occasionally visit other yards.

I saw TWO Mazda 6-speeds today. The new one was black. The one I saw the other day is silver.

One of these days . . . . :burnout:

[looks for the car-crash emoticon]

It's simply a matter of time.

Can someone clean out the old cars that are gone in the first posting? I'd agree with what is shown at Pick n PUll, I was there Saturday. Nothing at Riverside and Taylor's hasn't had anything in a while.

Eric,
I was planning on leaving them there for reference - especially not knowing if others were going to follow-up on the thread. Kinda like what happened to the thread last year.

The idea was to leave the last Gen I, last Gen II, last Gen III so other STL people could see how long it's been since the last one - and as a reference as to how long it had been since anyone visited that specific yard. For the most part, I now only get to Riverside, maybe once every 1-2 months, and the last time I was at Taylors it was warm (ie. last year). Riverside and Taylor's have both had more SHOs than Pick-n-Pull, but you wouldn't know that by looking at the original post. Pick-n-Pull has never had either a Turbocoupe, Supercoupe, or Gen I Plus in the nearly one year I've been there.

The other plan was, if the thread became active enough, I was going to edit the older SHOs into the third thread post ("bump") to keep the original post trimmed down.

What I've been doing has the potential to make decent money - I think the best I've done in a single day is $185 - ONCE. So I end-up having to work 7-days a week to make ends meet. I would love to be able to make enough in 5-days, so I had time to do things I want to do, on the weekend.

The problem is that the worthless counter help [pun intended] constantly pawns-off their work onto me. For example, I had THREE people come-up wanting me to find a single tire/steel rim yesterday alone - one a black guy younger than me (he didn't want to "waste" the $1 to get into the yard . . . , or was it "waste" the effort . . . .).

You guys know how well things are organized out there. You could easily spend 2 hours looking for a single tire of one specific size. If the "company" doesn't want to make an effort to use the tire rack they have (in addition to selling all their best tires to the used tire businesses at a discount), why the **** should I be expected to do their work for them.

And I'm sorry, but I'm not the welfare office. I think in the last half-dozen times I've actually helped someone, I got ONE $2 "tip" and all the rest were "thanks". Customers in turn, then bitch about having to pay $32 for a tire on an aluminum rim, the tire of which would cost them $25 or more PLUS mounting at most used-tire shops (that they probably bought from pnp for $5), or could cost well in excess of $100 new - EVEN THOUGH THE PRICE IS PROMINENTLY DISPLAYED AT EVERY REGISTER.

Do you think their "clientel" is going to pay you for getting a part, they decide they don't want at the register, because they think $20-to-$32 is too much? Sorry, I'm not the welfare office.

And that's just the tiny-tip of the iceberg floating in north county . . . .
