I owned a Gen-1 SHO- 1989. Black, 15" wheels. I do miss it, but it was time to move on.
Got a hankerin' to upgrade my ride. Presently drive a 2003 Mazda Protege5- a terrific car, great MPG, zippy and a blast to drive. But yesterday, I just thought, "Wouldn't a Jaguar X-Sportswagon (or Estate) be terrific" I love sports wagons- hence the Protege5. The space it has suits me very well.
I thought about putting a Mazdaspeed6 drivetgrain in a Mazda6 Wagon, but apparently the M6 wagon is not going to do well with the torque- the back of the vehicle is reported to be too flexy. The Taurus X Wagon is not to my taste- I don't want a crossover. But wait- the Jaguar X-Sportswagon already has AWD, and a Ford 3.0L v6. I'd THINK an engine swap from a donor 2008 or 2009 Taurus SHO would be relatively easy- add aftermarket 17 or 18-inch wheels, lower the suspension just a little, and IMO it would be a way-cool performance/sports wagon. At first, I envisoned it being black, but then I decided on BR Green- my '95 Ford Ranger is Camen Green and was thus dubbed "The Green Flash" (extra points to anyone who knows the ORIGINAL- not the comic book- reference) and my '01 Triumph Sprint became "The Green Flash 2" or "GF-II," so the Jag SHO would become "The Green Flash 3, with Euro-style front license plate proclaiming "GF-III," after Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang's "Gen-III" tags.
Can anybody offer any informed opinion as to the ease or difficulty of such a project?
